Chopping an Onion

Onions are an ingredient in so many recipes. Here's how to chop an onion quickly and efficiently. It's almost as fast as using a food processor -- and you get more uniform results.

" To efficiently chop an onion, cut it in half, starting from the top to the root end. Place ½ of the onion, flat side down, and cut lengthwise, starting close to the root end, but leaving the root intact. This helps keep the sliced onion together. Turn the onion. Now, holding it in place, slice across the onion. You'll have uniform chopped onion. Do the same with the other half."
