Once you have finished sewing all of your messy circles for the snowballs, you're gonna go ahead and attach your snow hill. Apply some glue to it. Be sure to put the glue just at the base of the hill, not at the top because you will be sewing that through your sewing machine. Once you've attached your hill, you're gonna go ahead and run it through your sewing machine just at the top like I've done here on the finished sample with a tight zigzag stitch. You can play with the width of it and the height of your stitch. But just sew it down with the zigzag then add the tree trunk with the brown card stock.
sewing techniques. We will be using both a sewing machine and needle and thread to teach you different techniques that you can use on your projects. Sewing is so much fun. I love to add sewing to my projects. It adds the perfect amount of texture. You can use different threads and techniques on your sewing machine and I also love the homemade goodness that it adds to my pages. Today, we are gonna be discussing and making

a paper piercer. I love using a mouse pad when I'm doing sewing because it helps the piercer to go through smoothly and not hit on my table. We'll use that for creating the holes
and a good variety of threads. I have some linen thread, sewing machine threads and string, a yarn, just whatever you have on hand should work just great. You'll also wanna grab a pack of these sewing needles. Actually in the needles, they have different eyes for different widths of thread. So you want a little bit of a
glue pen. The glue pen is really good when you're using your sewing machine because it allows the needle to go through without coming up. So grab your supplies, your basic tools and we're gonna

really love, go ahead and do that. You'll also wanna grab some sewing machine thread. I have orange and a light yellow that kinda coordinated with my card stock. You'll want a needle and some
lot of knobs in it which is really good and important for sewing . And then you will need your piercer, your glue pen, tape, corner rounder and a good pair of scissors. And of course, your sewing machine. So, we're gonna go ahead and get started with this page. I will show you what colors to start with, what
those all glued down, we're gonna go ahead and move to the sewing machine. But first, I wanted to make one point about gluing.
glue pen when I'm gluing things that I'm gonna use under my sewing machine because it helps it not to gum up. And so if you use the glue pen, you just need to use a small amount, glue it down and then as we sew , it won't get gummed up and it works really great. So now we are gonna go ahead and start the sewing part of this project. Before we start sewing , I wanna go ahead and show you the basic
we'll be covering on this fall page. We will be using our sewing machine and using simple straight stitch on all of the leaves and on the insides of the leaves. Then, on a few
PDF which has additional step outs, photos and techniques on all the sewing stitches that you can refer to at any time. So now let's go ahead with the orange thread and we're gonna start sewing the upper leaf, this top leaf here. And you're basically doing the straight stitch. I like to start in about an eighth
the page and I do that and then I will start slowly sewing the perimeter of the leaf. Now depending
of the leaf. You can also just slowly turn it when you're sewing if you're comfortable with that.
and skip to the second leaf and I'm gonna go ahead and sew the veins of the leaf with the same straight stitch, you don't need to alter your sewing machine at all, with the orange thread. So I like to once again place my needle where it needs to be and lower it by hand manually and then I'm just gonna sew a straight line down, really basic. Then I'm gonna
It's probably the most basic stitch that you'll use on all your sewing projects for attaching things or just for decorative strips. It's really fun look. Now, I am gonna show you the zigzag stitch
get it really tight like that is using your back on your sewing machine. You should have a little dial that allows your sewing machine to go backwards. I like to use that. If you need to move it around, feel free to do so.
where you can use tip boards. Tip board is really fun to sew on. You can use letter stickers, you can use stamps. I thought that would be really fun to stamp these letters out on your page and then you could actually go over them with your sewing machine to accentuate them which would be a really fun look. I also
Once you have that done, you can go ahead and move your sewing machine aside and we will start with the hand sewing . I get my mouse pad, my linen thread. I just cut long pieces of linen thread and went ahead and threaded my
They're good hand sewing needles so you won't poke yourself. Those are the ones that I like to use. So, first thing first, my tape and my paper piercer and we are gonna do the veining on this top leaf with a simple back stitch. All of the other leaf should be sewn and completed on the sewing machine except for this top leaf. And with my paper piercer, my paper in the mouse pad underneath, I'm just gonna poke
Then you're gonna go down the third hole so it's kinda like sewing backwards on the back of your page. Gonna go through that third hole so you see them coming up in the next
fun stitch to do on edges of your pages. I wish my sewing machine could create it just that way but it doesn't. So it's a fun one to use with needle and thread.
a corner rounder again, white sewing machine thread and white floss. I love this floss from DMC that comes on a roll coz it's only 1 ply. It's really great for using we're sewing buttons and things like that. Clear buttons, these are from Hero Arts and your needle, paper piercer, scissors and if you like
sewing machine. So, let's go ahead and get started. We're gonna cut the pieces of paper down to the sizes you need and then we'll get sewing . Now we're gonna start putting the winter page together. First, you're gonna wanna cut your blue piece of paper down to 5
some scraps of paper. I'm gonna show you a special technique with sewing the circles. So, let's get started with sewing the circles. You're gonna have your machine thread with the white sewing machine thread. Get your machine on.
Now these are just messy sewing circles. They're really fun, nothing perfect; just have fun with your machine here. Another note I forgot to mention, on your circles, when you glue them down, use the textured card stock for projects like this. It's really great when you're just using all card stock coz it adds a little bit more into your project. And with the circles I added or I turned some of them smooth and some of them textured. And when you sew on them and you look up close to your project you can really see the difference with that. So,
this is kind of free form sewing . With your machine threaded with white thread, this is a simple little trick that I like to do. I clip a white
gonna cut that piece off. Just move your paper around while you're sewing .
sewing will be consecutive on your circle. Cut all your pieces of thread and you have a messy little fun snow ball on your page.
Then you're gonna take your green tree and be sure that you're sewing just on the tree alone. Don't add it to your page yet. It will help you in case you make mistakes or so forth, then you can just cut a new tree. Go ahead and put it in your machine and you're just experimenting with this tree and having fun with your sewing machine. Every sewing machine comes with different stitches. Some from 10 up to 50 or even more. I had a lot of fun playing with my sewing machine and finding out what some of stitch has done since I've never used them before. I would suggest maybe getting a
out of your sewing machine and try just using the needle on your project to poke some fun dots. That is also another great idea is take your thread out and sew on your sewing machine with the dots to poke the holes and you could actually thread that with thread and needle afterwards. It's a great
sewing the buttons on to your page. My tree trunk is not sewn. But I wanted to show you the buttons and the placement of everything. So once it is down, grab your paper piercer and your mouse pad and your clear buttons. I just like to put the clear buttons down on my page where I want them to go to get a good idea for placement and balance, what looks
row and add your button and you're just gonna continue doing that, sewing all your buttons on to your page. When you're done, you can just cut it off and tape it off on the
You will not be using your sewing machine anymore so you can set that aside. On this page, we're gonna be talking and teaching you the lazy daisy stitch
just slid it right underneath. Next, we are gonna start on the sewing portion of this page. We are gonna start with the stems. And the easiest way to do this is to get your
to the page. It's fun to play with different mediums when you're sewing . So go ahead and finish sewing your circle and then you will get, we will get started on the lazy daisy stitch for the other flower.
Once you have that done, we're gonna go ahead and start the sewing stitches next. So grab your needles and thread and let's get started. As you can see, I have all my rays of

I've already premeasured a 1-inch fold. Here is the best part, no sewing . No need to lug out your sewing machine because you're going to use hem tape. And I love this stuff because it fuses the fabric together and keeps your fold in place for a no- sew hem. It's great. You use the crease as your guideline, and you're going to lay your tape up along the crease, like
