Of the classic green teas of China, Dragonwell?also known as or Long Jing?is the most famous. This pan-fired (that?s fired, not fr...ied? don?t worry, it tricks all of us the first time) tea features long dark leaves that are broad and flat. The dry leaves are very aromatic with the sweet smell of lily or orchid. The bright liquor is a nice balance of sweetness and sharpness. Anyone who is new to green tea?and seeking a quintessential example of what green tea should taste like?this is the tea for you. Authentic Dragonwell is only grown in a specific region of China: the area surrounding the city of Hangzhou in the Zhejiang Province in Eastern China (where the actual dragon well is located). This tea?s full name is West Lake Long Jing. The growing conditions along the shore of the West Lake of Hangzhou are great for tea. The area is well-protected, has a moderate climate, enjoys sufficient rainfall and sunlight, and is covered with fertile and porous soil. West Lake Long Jing tea is real Shi Feng Dragonwell. The name comes from a mountain formation in Long Jing Village that resembles a creeping lion. Lion Peak is pronounced as ?Shi Feng? in Chinese. Historically West Lake Long Jing tea is graded by its birthplace and Shi Feng Long Jing has consistently been taken for granted as the BEST among all others. read more

Tattle Tea

With its delicate "veggie" and grassy taste, Sencha is the quintessential green tea. The broad, flat leaves produce a yellow-green... infusion. The slightly sweet taste features soft notes and a clean finish. Rolled, steamed, and then pan fired as a means to seal in flavor, Sencha is perfect for green tea lovers as well as people looking to experience green tea for the first time. Sencha is grown on one of the largest single-owned farms in, China. While Sencha is known to be from Japan, this estate in China specializes in Japanese-style steam shaded teas. The estate meets strict USDA, Japanese, and European import standards. Is famous for its mountain mists which help protect the tea leaves from direct sunlight. The high altitude allows for the mist to stay and allows for fewer bugs -which means fewer pesticides. Japanese tea growers, who don't have such high and misty mountains, will try to artificially produce the same result by covering the tea plants under canopies, allowing them to only receive indirect light. read more
