The old one was 4 years old and did not have a turntable. Its bottom was some type of white glass and it exploded one day. i had to have the exact same fit because my kitchen was only 6 months old and it would of required tearing out back splash. Because size was very critical for fit I tried calling customer service for more detailed measurements, they would only read to me from their book would not transfer me so I could get more exact measurements. Ended up being 1/4' inch different so tile had to all be cut anyway. We have only had this for a month, turntable is nice and it has 3 level fan. It is vented outside. Thank goodness when I paid out the wazoo for this piece of **** microwave, I also got a warranty. After 7 tries, they were finally able to get one delivered that came from the factory not damaged in the box BEFORE shipment! YES I said SEVEN! When I contacted Electrolux directly after about number four, they pretty much told me I needed to let Sears handle it for me. Well, Sears was a victim as well, when their product shows up in a perfect box, and when opened, the whole top is bashed in, sent from the factory that way. I would have switched brands then, but had already purchased the matching range as well, and am now still dealing with factory defects on it too. Now, less than three years later, the microwave I ended up with is fried and I still have warranty left. This isn't the first time it's gone out, this time it's not repairable. Every time it goes out, I am without for over a month waiting on parts and service. I bought an inexpensive one at a competitor to make do with in the interim. Bet you wish you could say you keep a back up microwave in the closet. Again, thank goodness for warranty, because they are allowing me a replacement value voucher to select a replacement. I can actually select a different brand! I am so over Electrolux anything after this lousy experience! At this point they could give it to me and I would trash it with a sledge hammer instead of donate it to the needy. I wouldn't wish it to my worst enemy. by BrutallyHonest1Hixson, TN | Sat, Dec 14, 2013 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag read more

The pair looks great, but the microwave (Electrolux calls it a "speed oven") almost makes the in-wall oven redundant. This thing also convection bakes, it even grills (haven't tried griling in the microwave yet - don't really get the concept). There are hundreds of built in presets - but you need to keep the book handy to know which preset number corresponds to which recipe - and who is going to do that. Overall, this has way more features than the average cook would ever use, and if you are a really good cook, you wouldn't rely on all these presets anyways, so most of it is overkill. by lgrilliSt. Petersburg, FL | Wed, Mar 24, 2010 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 9 visitors found this helpfulElectrolux Microwave is a NIGHTMARE We purchased a Kitchen Aid Microwave for our new construction home. When it went to be installed, the Cabinet makers didn't make the cut out correctly and it would not fit. This was days before moving in. It was too late to re-order cabinets (re-stain, new countertops, etc.) After a lot of searching, this was the only microwave that would fit the hole. I heard that Electrolux was supposed to be a great brand. We ordered the microwave in January, couldn't get it installed until February (our fault, not Sears) and of course, no trim kit. Electrolux ships it in a separate box, but doesn't tell anyone at the store level. After a couple more weeks, the trim kit came in and we installed again. We finally were able to use the microwave by mid-March. In April, turntable stopped working - after about 4 times of use!! Sears promptly fixed the problem. Now in July, microwave is AGAIN not working. There is no heat. This is with very light microwave use (reheating, popcorn, etc.) I have never had the chance to use it as a convection oven, because it has worked poorly even during the times it has worked. VERY frustrated. Do not buy this microwave! by Anonymous , Texas | Fri, Jul 24, 2009 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 19 visitors found this helpfulNot a good first impression. I ordered this product and picked it up with several other appliances. I was NOT aware that the trim kit, included in the purchase price, was shipped in a seperate box. You can NOT find a trim kit for this microwave. Mine was not given to me at the time of pick-up. Sears is trying to find another one ... They suggested that I return the microwave and they will issue me a credit and 'reorder it'. Unfortunately, after only two weeks of use, (maybe 5 minutes of microwave only time) the carousel suddenly is no longer rotating. I called Electrolux and they sent a repairman. Parts on order. I am well within my 90 day return to sears, however, I don't have the original shipping box (a requirement for returns). So all in all, my experience with Sears and Electrolux has been less than I would have hoped for. by DJJ1350Germantown, TN | Tue, Apr 8, 2008 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag read more

We bought this "silver mist" microwave to go along with our Frigidaire silver mist stove and fridge. This is silver plastic, not stainless, which hasn't been an issue with our fridge and stove that we've had for 4 years and 1 year, respectively. However, within 3 months of the microhood being installed, the silver plastic part of the doorfront bottom completely melted and warped during Thanksgiving cooking. It's properly installed by a licensed contractor and is vented and was used with the fan running. However, the plastic of the door apparently cannot withstand placement over the range--despite the fact that it's constructed to be over the range! It microwaves very well. Lots of people complain about how loud it is, but I really don't think it's bothersome. It make no more noise than my 15 year old dishwasher, and since you typically don't run it for more than a few minutes it's not like the noise pollution is constantly an issue. The light is great, and I love that it has two settings, though I think the high could be just a tad brighter. I use it at night when I just need a little light to get a drink, because my dogs sleep in the kitchen and turning on the ceiling light will wake them but this light doesn't. The vent is mostly useless and is very loud on the high setting. It only works a little bit if you use the back burners on the stove. It doesn't suck hard enough to pull any steam or smoke from the front burners since the microwave doesn't go out that far. Also, it just pushes everything up through the unit and out vents on the top, so be prepared that your cabinet above and the ceiling will get dirty. I have to clean the cabinet and ceiling regularly or they get dingy from all of the steam and smoke being vented up to them. I guess there isn't really a better option since I don't have the set up to vent outside the house, but I wish it would at least filter it so that it doesn't stain my cabinet and ceiling. Overall, I gave it four stars because it looks nice, does the job, and I don't have a ton of complaints. The issues I have with it probably apply to all microhoods (this is the first one I have owned). Double microwave distribution system for more even cooking 900 Watt power... 18 visitors found this helpfulWorst microwave I ever purchased. We purchased this product a couple of months ago. Recently it started sparking. I called Sears about the product. They sent a service man out to check the unit. He said the scarring inside the walls compromized the inside of the wall lining. He also said that if you leave the grate inside the micro-wave and cook on the turn table with no food on the grate that this would cause it to spark.I have had 3 micro waves in the past and never had this problem. I feel for something this important the salesman should have warned us before we purchased and or the manufacture should have specified this on the unit itself and not stick it in some the manual in small print. Do your self a favor and skip over this product. John Chalmus, Atl. Ga by JohnChalmusMonroe, GA | Fri, Jul 13, 2012 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag read more

Countertop Microwave w/ Extra-Large Capacity - Stainless Steel $189.99 1 visitors found this helpfulVerified PurchaseLooks great. Works as built-in. I ordered this to replace my existing built-in microwave. My old microwave was in a small custom cabinet over the countertop. The instructions for this unit, and the rough-in measurements assume it is being installed over an oven or into a full-size cabinet. When I checked my dimensions, it appeared I would not have enough room, even if I expanded my opening by over 3 inches. Instead, I measured the actual microwave, and trim kit (sold separately), and used that. I only had to widen opening by 1 inch. The microwave is actually stainless steel on black color. The optional trim kit works great with it, and matches nicely. It appears to be larger than my old large microwave, so plenty of room. The turntable has been placed to maximize interior space. Much quieter than my old microwave. Touchpad is a little different. It may take you a few tries to get used to it. It has a lot of shortcut features that are helpful. My wife likes the "Potato" button. An interesting design feature: the back, outside of microwave is offset such that if your electrical outlet is on the right side of the space, there will be room for your plug and cord. Well with the first one I bought we tried to bake chicken in convection mode, and started to think something was up when it was taking over 2 hours to get it to a safe internal temperature. We were supposed to be cooking it at 350 per the oven display, but I used a probe thermometer to find out it was at around 220 the whole time. I raised the temp on the display to the highest setting to get the real temp to around 300 to finish cooking the chicken. The next day, I tried preheating the oven to 350 and when it signaled that it had reached that temp I put in the probe thermometer to see and again it was only at around 220. So, the temps are very inaccurate and the oven just doesn't get hot enough to be of real use. I returned this first one after calling Kenmore service, thinking it was possibly just a defective one after the phone call. But, the second one is worse...same issue with the temperature and it also makes a weird metal on metal sound when starting in convection mode. This product needs to be pulled and re-engineered. It's really damaged the brand for me...I can't see myself buying any Kenmore 'Elite' products given how shoddy this one is. I'll be returning the second one tomorrow, big waste of time. by JSpaeAustin, TX | Tue, Feb 25, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 6 visitors found this helpfulVerified PurchaseDidn't last a month Bought this to replace one I have had for years. Within a week, it started making noise. It sounded like someone had shoved a cat in the microwave and turned it on! Needless to say, it was returned. I replaced it with another brand. Then I realized that the Kenmore microwave convection oven has plastic parts (the rotor for the turntable and the ring with wheels on it) as well as a glass tray. Most convection microwaves have a metal tray and metal rotor. I can only imagine what would have happened to the movable parts when the oven is heated up to 450 degrees! The clerk in the store told me that he has had several of the Kenmore products returned recently because they changed manufacturers. I really liked the features and the price was great, but considering the problems, I am not about to buy a Kenmore appliance any time soon. by Lizbaby4Wharton, NJ | Fri, Feb 14, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 2 visitors found this helpfulGreat Features, but only lasted 5 years Great little oven. I decided to purchase the convection/microwave combo after a friend mentioned she wished she had one at Thanksgiving because she ran out of oven space. It does take two people to install as it is too bulky for one person to handle and mount. Husband did the install and hole drilling. We had to move a cabinet up because it was about an inch taller than our last microwave My Husband says installation is not a big deal just be prepared to drill holes in your wall and cupboard. I tried the convection oven (worked great), sensor reheating (I am now calling this the husband button. If he doesn't know how long to reheat something, just have him push the sensor button.), one touch buttons (I microwave daily and these were essential, 30 second additional time, auto defrost (worked much better than my old GE microwave). Sensor cooking bacon needed more time. This Kenmore is much QUIETER than my old GE. Love it. As with many other Appliances these days you can only hope it last. My main suggestion will be read the instructions carefully few times before you start. 1. Reason I selected this model is of the features, 400CFM rating, Convection, counter top space saver. 2. It took me almost 8 hrs to hang this since I had to change my cabinet to accommodate. 3. I wish the manufacture provided the template on a firm paper or on a cardboard. Paper template can throw off holes alignment. I had to drill around few times. 4. On the wall paper template it says to trim the top don?t know why make sure you do that ? 6. Use team lift and have a person helping you to hang it or get a back sore like I did. 5. Always measure your wall/microwave back area to make sure you are cutting the vent at the correct location and the bracket is mounted at the right location matching up the slots on the bottom of the machine. I prayed this microwave to last until ***** returns. I would recommend this product to a friend. by HopeitlastChester, VA | Mon, read more

This product: Whirlpool 1.6 cu. ft. 1,200W Countertop Microwave - Stainless Steel $219.99 Cheap Design This microwave has a very nice appearance and nice features. We decided to go with a Whirlpool as our previous (and similar) model lasted about 15 years with no problems. Unfortunately, I believe that quality has gone down hill. Right out of the box, the microwave had issues. The door is not particularly solid, and, when plugged in, the microwave began operating without command. It would randomly do this and would not stop by pushing the "cancel" button. Pushing down on the cheap door did stop the microwave from running by itself. Furthermore, the plug was a straight plug in style rather than a right angle lower profile plug that increased depth from our old microwave causing it to stick out further. The Whirlpool service site is automated and takes more time than it should to find out that it does not offer service on the weekend. We returned the product to Sears. by RCRatingBirmingham, AL | Tue, Feb 11, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag Nice replacement for our old Whirlpool Model We recently replaced our old Whirlpool microwave with this new stainless steel model. The installation was a breeze. It is very quiet when running and heats very evenly. The door is sturdy with metal pins and hinge, compared to other brands that use plastic pins. It has a large turntable and plenty of room inside. We splurged on the higher end model and got exactly what we expexted. I am so glad we waited. Mind you, we do not use the fan function as it's not mounted over a range, but the fan does blow pretty hard. The lights are halogen and bright, but get quite hot. I'm looking for LED replacement bulbs, but we don't use this function much. Still a great microwave. by BobthebuilderJWoodland, CA | Wed, Dec 4, 2013 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag read more

After shopping for other microwave and price comparison, this one seem to be the closet in dimension to our previous one and had a decent price. I compared the price with this item between Sears and ****** and Sears was about $20 cheaper. Installation was a breeze. There are wall template to tape to the wall to figure out where to drill the holes for the mount. There was also a top template included to tape to the bottom of the cabinet to determine where to drill the holes. Overall, it seem to work well and we haven't had any problems. However, at the time of this review, it's only been installed for a few days. My only two complaints are more wish list type items 1. When the microwave is done cooking, it has 3 long beeps instead of just one. It's a bit annoying and there's no way to change this or disable it. 2. The light switch, there's only on and off. There isn't a high and low setting. We usually like to leave the light on the microwave at night as night light and would have preferred if there was a lower setting. We've only had it for a short time, but everyone loves it. It cooks faster and more consistently than our older model. I personally love the "power saver" button. Once the button has been pressed, the microwave turns off any power usage after a minute of non-use. I also like the middle rack option for warming up food. With our larger family, we can warm up more than one item at a time. Glad we purchased it. After almost 18 months of use, the Microwave went out. The service tech has been out twice so far, with a 3rd visit scheduled to hopefully get it fixed. This is not that old. We do use it daily for microwave and a few times a week for convection. If I had it to do over, I'd buy a brand that doesn't have so many bad reviews at consumer reports. I was without this microwave/convection oven during the Christmas Holidays while cooking for company. This is not something I'd expect on a relatively new appliance. by swimmomof3Folsom, CA | Thu, Jan 16, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 5 visitors found this helpfulVerified PurchaseGood product for the price I bought this microwave when mine quit.
