It is attractive and seemingly well built. It is a little tall off the countertop, but we'll learn to live with that. It is kind of hard to clean since it has so many nooks and crannies, but it cooks well-so far.Main gripe: I had to modify the mounting clips for a 3 cm quartz counter top. The provided clips were too short as provided, and no one told me about it until the installers said UH, we can't fasten it down the clips are too short, you'll have to order a granite mounting kit. Foe an extra $0+ dollare plus freight I said no way, and modified the clips to work by BN, | Thu, May 15, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag Cooks great but some concerns The layout of the burners works very well for us. We use all the features available through the different burner BTU s. We feel that it looks great and have received many compliments. These are our concerns. The actual stainless steel top has scratched and we have not used anything abrasive, so it looks marred. There are stains that will not release and seem to now be permanent. The rubber pads have come off the grids in several places. A repair kit was sent to address that. The knobs however are very sturdy and durable and we feel they will hold up over the life of the unit. We chose this product over more "high-end" choices and to date we are not sorry we did. by PD, | Sat, Dec 28, 2013 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag Good I'm mostly satisfied with our gas top cook top so far, however, the only thing that I'm not satisfied with is the low burner setting. I would go into detail, but SEARS will REJECT my review for the third time. The blower/fan on mine arrived with a severed wire (broken). Replacement took 6 days from my initial product order to arrive. The grates are not black as pictured - they are gray. It looks like the finish on the grates may flake off. The "stainless" gets filthy and fingerprint marks are crazy! It also scratches like crazy too - brand new stove is already scratched after 1 day of use. Turbo boil really is fast. I asked about a rebate and they said the policy was 2 weeks. OK, I also was upset that we wiped down the control **** area and the black paint indicating high/low, etc started to disappear. Called Sears and that is not covered under warranty even for a 3 week old cook top. Next my wife placed the knobs in the dishwasher and when they came out, the "stainless" coloring was faded in some places and spotted in many other areas on two of the five knobs. Sears does not warranty the knobs on a five week old cook top. So now I am forced to purchase new knobs to replace the stained ones.while I have the original ones chromed or powder coated. Again, love the unit because it cooks great but the knobs and the printing on the control panel are of very low quality. The Filter board has a PCB fuse (built into the circuit board) that will blow when an unexpected voltage difference appears in one of the the power boards. You will have to replace the filter board and one or both of the power boards plus labor. If you feel qualified, you could pull the boards and add a 20A fuse in-line with the circuit board and trace / replace the faulty components on the power board(s). This does require a COMPLETE disassembly of the unit. That's what I did. If this scares you - run from this stovetop and look elsewhere. Other brands (NOT Electrolux) offer fuse options that are more cost effective - like being able to actually replace a fuse. The one star ratings here ARE accurate! BTW: induction cooking is great but it is not a cheap solution. This review applies to ALL Kenmore induction stove tops on this site. by Lennyels, | Tue, Oct 15, 2013 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 9 visitors found this helpful Read before buying Induction technology is amazing. You will not be disappointed by the performance, short term. Do your homework, look at other Kenmore induction ranges. The high reviews are because there is no other stove that compares, the low reviews are that they all tend to fail before their reasonable life should expire, 5-7 years, which is typically outside of the extended warranty period. If you are okay with spending 2K on a stove that will last 5-7 years, buy it . If not, look elsewhere. by LicensedArchitectPort Townsend, WA | Tue, Feb 26, 2013 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 12 visitors found this helpful Great cooking performance but watch out for repairs! The cooking performance is great. Very accurate heating control and no more slaving over a hot stove. This unit has 2 generators. 8 months after purchase the right side generator failed (the side with the largest burner). We heard a pop, received an error code on the display, and that was it. The left two burners continued to function (they have their own generator). The directions for this unit say not to use the cooktop at all when any kind of error message is displayed. Repair took over a week. Two visits were required, one to diagnose the problem and order the part, and a second visit 8 days later to install the new generator. The repair guy was nice and knowledgable, but the delay required to order the part was not acceptable. The replacement part came from Electrolux and the cooktop was originally manufactured in Canada. Now that we have gotten through the 'learning curve', we can rave about induction cooking. Keeps the heat in the pot, not in the kitchen. Fast! Temp adjustment faster than gas. Easy to clean. If there is any drawback, it would be that you can accidently change the cooking temp by brushing across the controls. Some people have complained that their pots scratch the surface. We got a cut-to-fit oven liner, made a pot-sized circle, and put our rough-bottomed pot on it to cook. Our old cast iron works well on it, but we did have to invest in new saucepans. The warm/hold setting keeps food at a good eating temperature. So far, we are very happy with it! I have never had a gas cook stove before this one. Absolutely love it!! The recessed grates make it look neater on the counter. The controls are in front so I'm not reaching across the stove to start or stop cooking. When cooking a large pot of soup, the center burner gives me the extra BTU's to get it going with ease. I just love it and will recommend it to anyone that asks!! by Robin60, | Sat, Nov 9, 2013 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 1 visitors found this helpfulOverall, a good general use stovetop We purchased this with our new counter tops and our son, who is a chef was elated: a mix of small and large burners, large cooking space, quick lighting burners, easy temperature control. We wish it had a vent fan, but that would have put it out of our price range. Was cleaning off grease, lifted up the downdraft grate a few inches to get the grease under it, slipped out of my fingers, fractured the cooktop, now it's a fire hazard in the middle of my kitchen. I understand it's my fault for not being more careful, but I can't imagine I'm the first person this has happed to. The grate should have some type of feature designed in to it to make it easier to grasp and therefore not have drop out of your fingers when greasy. Also, I undderstand heat transfer is an important characteristic for a cooktop, but they could consider a more resistant, yes, less efficient, and therefore more reliable product. Something good has to come of this disaster. by Help_me_SearsHarlingen, TX | Sun, May 5, 2013 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 14 visitors found this helpful Love It!! I purchased this to replace an existing 30" Kenmore downdraft cooktop, that was pretty much identical. The old one still worked, but it looked a bit tired, so I decided to upgrade. It turned out to be much more than just a cosmetic upgrade. I like the bridge burner very much and the down draft on this one does a much better job than my old one. I agree with the review that suggests Kenmore should make the underside assembly more flexible. My fiance installed it for me and thank goodness he is very mechanically inclined. He had to reconfigure quite a few things to make it work. It did not just drop in easily to replace my old Kenmore downdraft. Making things reversible underneath would make for greater ease of installation. Can't wait to try my Turbo Boil. I read more

I'm returning my 36" Induction Kitchen Aid Cooktop because the pan sensors will only detect a pan within a 1/2 inch of the edges of the heating elements. The smallest cooking element (4 out of the 5 elements) is seven inches. This means that the cooktop will not "read" a five inch pan and will not heat. The smallest pans that can be used must be six inches in diameter or larger. One quart and two quart pans are only five inches in diameter (including Kitchen Aids own one and two quart Induction cookware). I've talked with Kitchen Aid and Whirlpool personel and a service repairman and they agree that it is a design flaw. The 36" model needs to add at least one smaller cooking surface (like the 30" model) to be able to heat smaller pans. Do buy an Induction cooktop. I now have to replace the knobs on my cooktop for the second time. This is the second time in less than three years they have had to be replaced. The first time a technician came out and replaced them with the stainless steel base as it was defective. I understand that parts wear out but this seems to be a bit much for a very expensive cooktop. There is a definite design flaw in this cooktop as the biggest burner is closest to the knobs. If you put a big pan on the burner then the heat comes out from under the pan and melts the knob(s). In addition, the knobs are plastic with a foil coating and cost about $50 each to replace. I think that it price is way too high especially considering the frequency in which they need to replaced. Should a customers have to pay over $200 a year to keep their cook top working correctly? As with the other review, we use the big burner over 90% of the time as the other burners work only in a warming fashion.
