We were happy with the old model. It arrived yesterday and it did indeed install easily, but it is the ugliest and cheapest looking appliance ever! The plastic front has a weird matte finish that is absolutely unacceptable. Even cleaning it did not help. The "window" on the outside is flimsy plastic that would soon be scratched with even the gentlest cleaning. The picture online does not show it's true appearance and there were no floor models at the Sears store to preview before ordering it. We took it down and returned it. It cost $67 to ship back but was worth every penny. We would not want to have to look at this ugly thing for years and years, no matter how well it might work. Very disappointed. by TMarie63Grover, MO | Fri, Jun 7, 2013 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag read more

Countertop Microwave $107.14 1 visitors found this helpfulGood buy for the price Just bought Sharp R309Y last week. Opinion thus far: 1. Light only goes on when cooking which is preferable for with me. Extends bulb life and can leave door open to clean and air out unit without burning out the bulb. 2. No timer pictured on the front of box, but now one on the unit. Not as user friendly as my previous Sharp unit (R307N). Have to hold for 3 seconds to activate timer before setting it. Taking some time to get used to. Timer only works with the door closed. 3. Unit is VERY noisy. Not that big a problem for me, but might be a turn-off for others. 4. Smaller glass turntable than my previous 1.0 cu. Ft. Sharp unit (R307N which had a 12 ?? one, versus only 11? on this one). But seems sufficient for my needs, since only cooking for 1-2 people at a time. 3qt Corning ware pot fits fine, but 9 ? x 9 ? Corning ware pan might have trouble rotating. 5. Power level button needs to be set before cooking time (reverse procedure from R307N). No indication that alternate power level has been set other than sound of unit cycling on/off. Would be nice if Sharp would add some kind of indicator on display to confirm setting (even a small ?P? on display would help) 6. Overall, bare bones look. Not as stylish as R307N was. Not crazy about look of the big, round latch to open/close the door. 7. Keypad has ?0? button to the right side instead of on bottom (like a phone keypad). Keep hitting ?8? button in error. Taking some time to get used to it. 8. Turntable mechanism similar to a previous unit decades ago, which eventually stopped working too soon. Liked the one type used on my R307N better, which always worked fine. Hoping this one will last. Makes a ?scraping? sound when in operation, which doesn?t instill confidence. 9. Don?t use quick keys as a rule, but did use the ?dinner plate? one to reheat leftovers and the 30 second plus key. Both worked just fine. 10. Cost for unit on sale was under $100, so consider it a good value for the price. It works great, we have had it for almost 2 weeks and haven't had any problems with it. Other reviews have said this microwave doesn't have a kitchen timer. Our microwave does, so i'm not sure if they were updated a bit since the reviews of other were posted. I just got the microwave, so I haven't used it much! I haven't try all the cooking options yet! The microwave is lighter than the last Sharp microwave I had. It's not as solid. When I push the start button, the microwave moved back. Otherwise, it's working fine so far! I would recommend this product to a friend. by susanglBellevue, WA | Sat, Mar 22, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 1 visitors found this helpfulVerified PurchaseMicrowave Is okay for price I was disappointed in some of the features - inside light only goes on while cooking, not when you open oven. Some of the numbers are connected to a assigned command (like the 0) - you can't cook for 10 seconds cause 0 does defrost or something. I apologize if there is a step I should be doing - not clear in directions and I don't have time to sit down with the directions. by Peggygrillo, | Sun, Jan 26, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 1 visitors found this helpfulVerified Purchasemicrowav read more

The cook button even thou in 'cook' mode does cook and the light stays in the warm mode. I tried getting in touch with the Hamilton-Beach customer service and they wanted 16 dollars to ship a new product to me, after paying 30 bucks for this product and going trough the agony of calling customer service, why would I have to pay for a defective product? The customer service was rude and they didn't care if I didn't have a rice cooker and they wouldn't help if I didn't shell out the money. I am not going to pay for the shipping rather buy a cheaper brand product which probably last last like before which was about 3~5 years. So much for big brand Hamilton Beach products, I strongly recommend not buying this product, cheaper Proctor Silex rice cooker works much better and lasts way way longer. by VamseeCanton, MI | Sat, Feb 8, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag Verified PurchaseGreat product This awesome rice cooker help makes dinner easier for my family.
