Hinterland Trading Air Plant terrariums have become extremely popular. Their charming personalities, minimal care, and lack of soi...l make them an ideal way to bring a little piece of nature into your living space and brighten any room. Their uniqueness also makes them a perfect gift that will leave a lasting impression on any lucky recipient. The Ocean Side Set B includes 2 Air Plants (Ionantha Scaposa), 2 Teardrop 5 ½ Inch seated or hanging glass terrariums with one large opening and two smaller vent openings, a flat bottom, a loop with twine to hang, sand and mixed seashells to set the scene. Also included is a 2 oz. Hinterland Trading Air Plant Fertilizer to keep the plants vibrant and detailed care instructions. Air Plants (Tillandsia) get their common name from the fact they don’t require soil. They are epiphytes, which attach to other plants or trees for support. Their roots are only used to anchor themselves and are normally removed during cultivation for aesthetics. They are not parasitic, instead they gather micro nutrients from the air and water in structures called trichomes on their leaves. As the plant dries the trichomes take on a white powder look. After watering the plant will return to a vibrant green. Air Plants must dry fully between watering because they are susceptible to rot if left wet to long. These Air Plants will only bloom once, but after the bloom they can form up to 12 “Pups”, or offspring, at their base. The main plant will slowly be on its way out, but the Pups will continue to thrive and will separate when mature. Air Plants prefer filtered sunlight as their natural home is under tree canopy. This makes them perfect house plants. Air Plant care is pretty simple. Upon arrival give your plants a good hour or two soak in a shallow bowl of water. Our plants are shipped on the drier side to avoid rot while in transit. Place the plants root/base side up and out of the water. The base is the area susceptible to rot if left wet to long. Over the course of an hour you will see the plant fill up and turn bright green. Once it is full, take the plants out, shake them gently to remove any excess water and let them dry before placing them in the terrarium. You can mist the plants a few times a week or repeat the soaking once a week or a combination of the two. Their needs will vary with their environment, but after a few weeks you will be able to read your plant like a book. Just remember the best thing you can do for your plant is to let it dry completely between watering. Air Plants like as much filtered sunlight as they can get. Anywhere within 8 feet of a window that gets light for the better part of the day will work. If that’s not possible they can live on artificial light, but the source has to be pretty close like a desk lamp. They like sleeping as much as we do so at least 6 hours of darkness per day will work and 10 would be ideal. As tempting as it is, use your Hinterland Trading Air Plant Fertilizer sparingly. Just a few pumps every other week when watering. As a special treat you can collect rainwater for your Air Plant, the nutrients in rainwater or pond water are more abundant than in the air or tap water, but this is not necessary. read more

As a special treat you can collect rainwater for your Air Plant, the nutrients in rainwater or pond water are more abundant than in the air or tap water, but this is not necessary. read more

Add natural beauty to your home or office with air plants! These indoor plants don't need soil to grow, so they can flourish in ma...ny different environments. Additionally, they require only a moderate amount of light and only need watering about once a week, making them the lowest-maintenance plants available! What separates these unique plants from other plants are their leaves, which have adapted to absorb water and nutrients from the air. This allows air plants to thrive when they are suspended in the air or grown atop driftwood and rocks. Air plants are perfect for terrariums, cages, and glass containers with holes or gaps that allow for plenty of air flow. There are a myriad of other creative ways to display air plants; the possibilities are limited only by your imagination! Air plants look especially beautiful when set atop river stones, natural-colored gravel, or driftwood. Air plants make excellent gifts for house-warming or other occasions. They are also work wonderfully as desktop decorations for your office or home desk. We recommend keeping air plants in an area where they receive a moderate amount of light. Indirect sunlight and artificial home/office lighting are appropriate for these plants. It's generally safe to keep air plants in direct sunlight for a short period of time each day, but we recommend misting them with water every 2 hours or so to keep them from drying out. The optimal way to water air plants is to soak them in water for 2 hours once per week. If you find the leaves of your air plants are becoming soft or pale in color, this means the plant is too dry, and you should try misting or watering them more often. Air plants come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors, though most species primarily feature green leaves. Many of our air plants also exhibit stunning pink blooms. Each air plant ranges from 2 to 6 inches in size. The plants you receive may or may not already have blooms. read more

Decorative, copper-tone metal collar attaches easily to any existing bird feeder pole. It's unique (and highly effective) design k...eeps squirrels and small raccoons from climbing the pole to steal the delicious feed left for the birds. Quick and easy to install, simply slip the collar around the pole and snap the ends together. No need to remove the existing feeder! Made of strong galvanized metal, the collar is impervious to chewing and breakage. Made in the USA. 7"H x 19"Dia. Weighs 2.7 lbs. When choosing a feeder for your backyard sanctuary, consider selecting one that keeps squirrels at bay. Along with raccoons, squirrels have become one of the most tenacious of bandits, stealing any food they can get their little paws on, including your feathered friends' feed, seed, fruits and nuts. Not sure if squirrels are taking your birds' food? An easy way to find out is to simply look out your back door. Do you see squirrels in the yard? If so, they are eating your bird feed. Consider placing a squirrel feeder away from your bird feeders. Then, place a squirrel-proof feeder or attach a baffle to your existing feeder will prevent squirrels from eating their fill, and keep songbirds coming back to your property season after season. read more

$39.07 $36.95

Hinterland Trading Air Plant terrariums have become extremely popular. Their charming personalities, minimal care, and lack of soi...l make them an ideal way to bring a little piece of nature into your living space and brighten any room. Their uniqueness also makes them a perfect gift that will leave a lasting impression on any lucky recipient. The River Side Set A includes 2 Air Plants (Ionantha Scaposa), 2 Round 4 ½ Inch seated or hanging glass terrariums with one large opening and two smaller vent openings, a flat bottom, a loop with twine to hang, mixed river pebbles, and live green moss to set the scene.
