I called customer service and was told the the manual clearly states you are not to touch the outside. Great if you don't need to use it for pot luck elsewhere. If a small child should happen to accidentaly touch it....it would be a disaster! I don't like it and don;t like the fact they don't stand behind their products. by jnayAdrian, MI | Fri, Jan 18, 2013 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 2 visitors found this helpful made in CHINA that should tell you something! bought item for wifes christmas gift. i pluged it in to make sure it warmed up it did. she made a large sausage breakfast casserole christmas eve to take to relatives christmas day. at 11 pm we started it. it was to cook on low for 8 hrs. at 4 am i ckecked it and it was cold never cooked. lost time and a lot of money. not happy at all. by sickofmadeinchinaElyria, OH | Sun, Dec 30, 2012 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 2 visitors found this helpfulhandy Love beinG ABLE TO TAKE MY FOOD TO PARTIES WITHOUT SPILLING IT ALL OVER. I purchased this crockpot because it looked nice and seemed simple enough for what I needed. I have had one other in the past and it recently broke. It never got hot on the outside...warm but not hot! I touched just barely the outside of this crockpot, owwww! Burnt my fingers so bad I have a 1/2 inch bubble. Thank goodness it was me and not my 5 or 1 year old! Out to get a new different one... by CMMV02Brewster, MA | Mon, Oct 29, 2012 via kmart.com Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 7 visitors found this helpfulRival 6 qt. slow cooker sloppy but gets the job done. I wanted a larger crock pot and this 6 quart one fits the bill. I wanted the interior to be enamel, not the toxic non-stick material and this one is enamel. Also, wanted the lid to attach to base for transport of the container and this one fits well. I also am a manual type gal, so I liked the simple dial without all the electronics which I figure often break. This model has low, high and warm. I was surprised that the low setting leads to a boiling pot and the manual says not to use 'warm' longer than 4 hours. Not sure why. The enamel piece doesn't fit well in the outer part and moves around more than I would anticipate. Since it meets all my other requirements, I'm going to keep it. Also, the outer receptacle gets very hot. Not sure how that measures up, but my 2 quart crock pot (which is ancient) has quite a bit of insulation and is not that hot to the touch on the outside. Overall, I'd say this is an average crock pot and priced right. Hope this helps. I would recommend this product to a friend. by jdeckenbachCincinnati, OH | Wed, Mar 30, 2011 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag read more
