Countertop Microwave w/ Extra-Large Capacity - Stainless Steel $189.99 1 visitors found this helpfulVerified PurchaseLooks great. Works as built-in. I ordered this to replace my existing built-in microwave. My old microwave was in a small custom cabinet over the countertop. The instructions for this unit, and the rough-in measurements assume it is being installed over an oven or into a full-size cabinet. When I checked my dimensions, it appeared I would not have enough room, even if I expanded my opening by over 3 inches. Instead, I measured the actual microwave, and trim kit (sold separately), and used that. I only had to widen opening by 1 inch. The microwave is actually stainless steel on black color. The optional trim kit works great with it, and matches nicely. It appears to be larger than my old large microwave, so plenty of room. The turntable has been placed to maximize interior space. Much quieter than my old microwave. Touchpad is a little different. It may take you a few tries to get used to it. It has a lot of shortcut features that are helpful. My wife likes the "Potato" button. An interesting design feature: the back, outside of microwave is offset such that if your electrical outlet is on the right side of the space, there will be room for your plug and cord. Well with the first one I bought we tried to bake chicken in convection mode, and started to think something was up when it was taking over 2 hours to get it to a safe internal temperature. We were supposed to be cooking it at 350 per the oven display, but I used a probe thermometer to find out it was at around 220 the whole time. I raised the temp on the display to the highest setting to get the real temp to around 300 to finish cooking the chicken. The next day, I tried preheating the oven to 350 and when it signaled that it had reached that temp I put in the probe thermometer to see and again it was only at around 220. So, the temps are very inaccurate and the oven just doesn't get hot enough to be of real use. I returned this first one after calling Kenmore service, thinking it was possibly just a defective one after the phone call. But, the second one is worse...same issue with the temperature and it also makes a weird metal on metal sound when starting in convection mode. This product needs to be pulled and re-engineered. It's really damaged the brand for me...I can't see myself buying any Kenmore 'Elite' products given how shoddy this one is. I'll be returning the second one tomorrow, big waste of time. by JSpaeAustin, TX | Tue, Feb 25, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 6 visitors found this helpfulVerified PurchaseDidn't last a month Bought this to replace one I have had for years. Within a week, it started making noise. It sounded like someone had shoved a cat in the microwave and turned it on! Needless to say, it was returned. I replaced it with another brand. Then I realized that the Kenmore microwave convection oven has plastic parts (the rotor for the turntable and the ring with wheels on it) as well as a glass tray. Most convection microwaves have a metal tray and metal rotor. I can only imagine what would have happened to the movable parts when the oven is heated up to 450 degrees! The clerk in the store told me that he has had several of the Kenmore products returned recently because they changed manufacturers. I really liked the features and the price was great, but considering the problems, I am not about to buy a Kenmore appliance any time soon. by Lizbaby4Wharton, NJ | Fri, Feb 14, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 2 visitors found this helpfulGreat Features, but only lasted 5 years Great little oven. I decided to purchase the convection/microwave combo after a friend mentioned she wished she had one at Thanksgiving because she ran out of oven space. It does take two people to install as it is too bulky for one person to handle and mount. Husband did the install and hole drilling. We had to move a cabinet up because it was about an inch taller than our last microwave My Husband says installation is not a big deal just be prepared to drill holes in your wall and cupboard. I tried the convection oven (worked great), sensor reheating (I am now calling this the husband button. If he doesn't know how long to reheat something, just have him push the sensor button.), one touch buttons (I microwave daily and these were essential, 30 second additional time, auto defrost (worked much better than my old GE microwave). As with many other Appliances these days you can only hope it last. My main suggestion will be read the instructions carefully few times before you start. 1. Reason I selected this model is of the features, 400CFM rating, Convection, counter top space saver. 2. It took me almost 8 hrs to hang this since I had to change my cabinet to accommodate. 3. I wish the manufacture provided the template on a firm paper or on a cardboard. Paper template can throw off holes alignment. I had to drill around few times. 4. On the wall paper template it says to trim the top don?t know why make sure you do that ? 6. Use team lift and have a person helping you to hang it or get a back sore like I did. 5. Always measure your wall/microwave back area to make sure you are cutting the vent at the correct location and the bracket is mounted at the right location matching up the slots on the bottom of the machine. The problem with this unit is, the turntable cannot be stopped using the convection feature. The user manual says, if using a cake pan 9x13 turn off the turntable. It does not work. I had a technician from sears come to my home. He checked it out, made some phone calls and then told me that in the user manual it was a misprint per manufacture. YOU CANNOT STOP THE TURNTABLE IN CONVECTION MODE. This means I am limited to the size of pan/ dish I can use with convection because the three legged rack MUST BE USED ON THE GLASS TURNTABLE on convection settings. I do like everything else on this microwave, so it's a keeper. I just have to get bigger round dishes for the convection use. The option for turntable on / off works great for microwave use. Love everything about this refrigerator except that it's smaller than our old one...but that's our choice. We did some rearranging of shelves to allow for more milk cartons and larger items to sit on a shelf, as well as in the door. Love the bright LED lights when the doors are open. Shelves and bins are sturdy, attractive and see-through, which I really like. I also like it that the 2 compressors keep refrigerator and freezer at different temperatures we want, along w/the special drawers in the refrigerator. And we really love the outside-of-the-door water dispenser, which is hard to find any more! The icemaker makes many ice cubes and they're easy to access in the bin. Freezer is bigger than first thought, and really holds a lot w/the drawer as well as the bottom area. I like it that the freezer drawer stays back so you can get things out of the bigger freezer area unless you want to pull out the drawer. I never thought I'd want a French door freezer, but I've loved it and the unexpected ease of reaching things in this freezer. This runs quietly, and the bell is helpful when the doors have been left open 1 minute. It can be turned off, but we decided not to, as it is helpful and not an irritating sound. After waiting all morning, he arrived in his time window, but found out that there were multiple things wrong. The one door would need to be replaced, another part (a Cam) needs to be replaced and the handle on the freezer was loose. Also, the black finish always looks dirty and smeared. Sears is allowing me to return it...so I am! by CEO4homeHatboro, PA | Sat, Nov 16, 2013 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 3 visitors found this helpfulDon't buy Doors are hard to shut if you don't push really hard. The alarm is so low you can't hear it unless you are very close to frig and no other noise in kitchen at the time. This could cause the compressor to stay on and burn out in no time at all. If alarm was a lot louder this would not be bad but it isn't so if you want to risk it buy it, if not don't. by TwallyDunkirk, NY | Sun, Sep 1, 2013 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 6 visitors found this helpful Great Frige I would recommend this product to a friend. by ErebusCanton, MI | Mon, Mar 11, 2013 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 6 visitors found this helpful Refrigerator It is smaller than my original, but I love it. The cook button even thou in 'cook' mode does cook and the light stays in the warm mode. I tried getting in touch with the Hamilton-Beach customer service and they wanted 16 dollars to ship a new product to me, after paying 30 bucks for this product and going trough the agony of calling customer service, why would I have to pay for a defective product? The customer service was rude and they didn't care if I didn't have a rice cooker and they wouldn't help if I didn't shell out the money. I am not going to pay for the shipping rather buy a cheaper brand product which probably last last like before which was about 3~5 years. So much for big brand Hamilton Beach products, I strongly recommend not buying this product, cheaper Proctor Silex rice cooker works much better and lasts way way longer. by VamseeCanton, MI | Sat, Feb 8, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag Verified PurchaseGreat product This awesome rice cooker help makes dinner easier for my family.
