It is painted. The online people told us it was "painted stainless". Wow, Sears is good. They can get stainless to hold paint AND attract magnets. Oh, well. Otherwise it was exactly what we wanted. One was because of the dimensions and the other reason was because my refrigerator broke the same week as my dryer - I had to buy two appliances in one week so it was difficult to spend a lot. The day I received this dryer I used it and after the second load of clothes, the machine began making a very loud, high- pitched noise. I am on the second machine now. Sears managed to mess up delivery on both machines. I specifically indicated that I needed a right vented machine. Both times they gave me a delivery date and at the very last minute called to inform me they didn't have a right vented machine. I would not recommend buying this unit. I am not sure what everyone else on this board likes about it. It is cheap. The dials are flimsy - I won't be surprised if they go within a few years. The lint holder is so small that after a large load of clothes, there is excessive lint flying around because the catcher is too small. by patmny, | Sat, Feb 8, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 3 visitors found this helpfulIf there was only a 2.5 stars.. and wish there was a low heat It advertises "3 heat options" but I would hardly call "no heat" an option. "Regular" "Medium" and "no heat." Sure, it's nice to have a fluff once in awhile, but I'd much rather have a low setting. I have clothes that specify tumble dry low but there's no low heat. Who makes a dryer without a low? It works... Wish the lint try had smaller holes, there's a lot that gets through. It takes 90 minutes to dry a sheet set in this hotpoint....I would save time going to the laundramat... the whirlpool was a great dryer I just thought it was time for a new dryer because it was no longer heating at its best... No more hotpoint products here. so now I am in the process of exchanging for another new whirlpool dryer... to preserve energy, save time and overall cost in monthly bill, pay the extra for a better dryer!!!!!!! ... I don't mind that as much as the leaking and the lack of a gentle cycle. It leaks in the back and there's a stain on the floor now from it. I wash all my clothes on the same cycle because there's really only two. Cottons or regular. There's a "whites" cycle but it doesn't really do anything different. I can't wash anything delicate because there's no gentle cycle. Anything knitted I'm afraid it will destroy. So I have to take gentle stuff elsewhere. by cotton770West Jordan, UT | Sat, Dec 7, 2013 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 0 visitors found this helpfulGood for the price. I love it... The machine sounds possessed and, contrary to the statement that it stays in place, it definitely doesn't. This baby walks all over the basement. It makes loud chirping noises as it's washing and when it goes into spin cycle, it sounds like the F-15 jets on the trim pad. Also, it "eats" clothes. Now, it makes these horrible noises no matter what is in the wash load so it isn't because I've put too much heavy clothing in it. No, it went ballistic when I was just washing my sons' socks. If you cook a lot and have a small kitchen, it's hard to go wrong with this Hotpoint range. I cook several times a week and the gas range is fantastic with plenty of even heat. The broiler makes lamb taste incredible. I've cooked the wildest stuff with my Hotpoint -buffalo steaks, duck, ostrich. It seems to do a much better job than my old stove. This Hotpoint is an electric ignition model which requires a standard modern electrical outlet in addition to the gas hook-up to function properly. That's why this model costs extra over the standard Hotpoint pilot model. With electric ignition, you don't have to worry about the pilot light going out. It's a great feature and I think it's worth the money. Do your homework prior to installation (i.e. make sure a power outlet is nearby, take some measurements, etc) and you'll be cooking up a storm in no time.
