Then the soap door release broke. These where minor annoyances that my husband repaired. Now 3 years and one month after purchase the motor has burned out. I expected more than 3 years out of a $650 dishwasher. Should have known better than trusting the sears salesman. by HandwashMelrose, MA | Sat, Apr 19, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 5 visitors found this helpfulBuy the extended warranty For the first year, this dishwasher performed beautifully. Almost exactly 365 days after we bought it, however, it started to have problems. On a cold night, the plastic (!) water valve broke, first causing no water to enter and then exploding water all over the kitchen and into the basement . Luckily, we were there when it happened and could turn off the water supply. Then, the drying stopped working. We have now had the machine for 17 months and have had 4 or 5 visits from repairmen since December. They have replaced the fan, the soap and JetDry dispenser, and the vent, as well needing adjustments to several other bits and pieces. When they encounter a new problem, they rarely have the needed part on their trucks, meaning that the part has to be ordered and they have to come back again to install it. Scheduling their visits isn't bad as long as you are at home every day. Bottom line: Don't even think about buying this dishwasher unless you are willing to also pay for the extended warranty. Our Sears salesman suggested it (as salesmen always do), but I was convinced by the seriousness of the way he offered his suggestion. It was clear that we wouldn't be the first buyers to run into problems. by LincoBrookline, MA | Thu, Apr 3, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 3 visitors found this helpfulsparkling clean dishes Had this dishwasher about 3 months. There was a slight problem with installation, it required my husband to go to Sears and retrieve some anchor screws to hold it in place. The 24 in. GE® GDT720SSFSS built-in dishwasher with stainless steel interior and hidden controls was designed to be a big help in ...your kitchen. Thanks to GE?s most advanced wash system, with more than 100 cleaning jets, you can count on every dish getting clean. There are side jets, bottle wash jets... Very pleased. My son bought me this dishwasher because he was tired of having cloudy glasses and food left on some plates. I thought the top name brand I had was quiet, but this dishwasher is so quiet, I had to check to make sure it was actually working. I am very pleased with my new dishwasher and my glasses are sparkling clean and all my dishes come out clean. by reid1997, | Mon, Jun 9, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 1 visitors found this helpfulThis Dishwasher has Potential We bought this almost 3 months ago, and we paid the extra money for the extra features a model up from what we were initially interested in. From the start we had problems with simply closing the door. We had to push and hold the door closed really hard for minutes or the seal would break and shut the wash cycle off. We put up with it for weeks until deciding to call the store we bought the unit at for a service call as it is under warranty. The company came out, ordered the parts, and did some extensive part replacements for the door seals which was great. Its been almost 3 weeks now and we still have to hold the door extremely tight for minutes or else the seal breaks and shuts off the cleaning cycle. We have had other GE products in the past, and they have been fine. I think they are a great innovative company and besides the door issue when the wash cycle finishes the dishes are very clean. I think we got the bad one in the bunch which happens, but I wish they would just replace it rather than do extensive part replacements in this instance. If this product was in proper working order I would give it a much better rating and would probably recommend it to a friend. by Geekjoe31, | Fri, May 23, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 1 visitors found this helpfulGood dishwasr Needed to replace our old GE. The slide out drawers are really well made and far superior to other brands that we looked at when shopping for a new dishwasher. Other brands drawers were extremely cheap and wobbly. Only drawback to the GE dishwasher model that we purchased is the stainless steel inside of the door. As with stainless steel sinks, they always have water spots on them. The installation went as directed, but on first use water quickly began dripping from the right rear corner from under the soundproofing mat. I found that the side metal was mashed in just enough to separate the side wall and bottom tub. After waiting sooooo long to get it, I decided to just reseal it myself, but the next use revealed another leak on the TOP right rear. Apparently it was dropped in-factory, as the box was undamaged. So another fix attempt, wait another day for sealer to cure, and try again... now a large puddle under the FRONT, dripping off the bottom door seal. Enough; I'm returning it tomorrow. View information provided by the manufacturer 1 visitors found this helpfulWe still like it, with one minor complaint This is an update after my wife and have lived with his dishwasher a couple of months. We've decided we'd prefer the silverware baskets on the front of the bottom rack, rather than the front. We have to pull out the rack all the way out to load silverware, rather than just opening the door and dropping it into a front basket as we did with our old dishwasher. If you tug on the rack a little to hard, it may end up on the kitchen floor. But overall, we're pleased, as my previous review pasted below will show: This dishwasher meets all our needs, and we especially like its quietness, its solid build, and its warranty on electronics. We have had no problems with washing or drying, as other reviews have noted. We usually rinse dishes lightly before loading, and we use a rinse aid as the instructions say. We also wait a while to unload dishes, letting the stored heat finish drying them. If we use the sanitize (extra-heated water) option, the dishes come out clean and bone-dry. Maybe we're not demanding enough, but so far we're pleased. by SatisfiedinFlorida, | Fri, May 30, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag I was really satisfied with my purchase! It had most of the features I wanted, was not too expensive, had good reviews, and best of all, matched my black-appliance kitchen. Unfortunately, none of the descriptions or pictures of the unit included the fact that it has a large "Made in America" sticker on the front, as large as the Whirlpool logo and crookedly slapped on, THAT IS NOT REMOVABLE. This sticker is multicolored and destroys the look of the unit. I assumed the sticker would be easily peeled off and so let the unit be installed. I was wrong - it cannot be removed without damaging the surface of the door. This on a "designer" dishwasher?? I'm all in favor of products made in America, and I understand Whirlpool wanting to highlight that fact, but why am I forced to have this ugly sticker part of my kitchen decor?? It has lots of room on the top rack to hold all of your cups and glasses and some small bowls. The bottom rack however is a little limited. Tho it has adjustable tines and brags about being able to adjust the width from left to right to fit different sizes, it inhibits the proper aligning of your dishes. Also, having the utensil basket on the door is a great thing for freeing up more room in the lower rack, but for some reason if you over load the utensil rack in anyway, the silverware doesn't always come clean. by mommy1157, | Sun, Apr 6, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag Super quiet, less impressive silverware tray Overall I think this is a very good dishwasher. I installed it myself and it was pretty easy as I was replacing an existing one that died. It holds more dishes than our last one, mainly due to the different configurations that the trays can be put into. The only real complaint that I have I'd the silverware tray. I thought that I would really like the fact that it is on the door and doesn't take up space inside, however where it sits in relation to the rinse aid fill and soap container makes half of it only useable for pretty short items. Also, the openings to hold the silverware apart to keep the from "spooning" work great for forks and spoons, but our knives will only fit in the six largest slots and won't fit at all in the side under the soap container. But outside of that it has been very good and the other features in combination of how whisper quiet it is, far outweighs the few drawbacks. by ChadB, | Sat, Mar 29, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag Great dishwasher This W read more

It is now May 2014, only six months later, and so far we have needed three service calls. Right now I am doing dishes by hand because this dishwasher is still not working. I feel like we paid more than $800 for something that functions mainly as a drying rack for hand-washed dishes! Here are some of the problems with this dishwasher: The control panel is so "sensitive" that if you happen to lightly brush against it while working on the counter it is installed under, it turns on; I put on the "control lock" button so this wouldn't occur but was told by the KitchenAid repairman that this is "not good" for the dishwasher. "Only people who have small children should use the control lock" he told me. The lights on the control panel seem to function at will. So far, the lights showing that the washer is having a wash cycle have been on for five days, and the washer does not start. Prior to that, the "completed" lights were on and it also would not start. By the way, the "Normal" wash cycle takes 2-1/2 hours - that is, when it is working. I use the "pods" the manufacturer suggested for washing but I notice they don't always dissolve - is enough water getting in? Another thing - when this dishwasher starts, it makes a banging, thudding noise I can hear all through the house which the installer told me was "normal". Funny that my previous dishwasher, which I had for seventeen years, never did this. Tomorrow a repairman is coming out - again!!! - to replace the control panel. I notice whenever I call the KitchenAid line for repair I get a message that they are "extremely busy" and that my hold time will be more than ten minutes. Not surprising, if other people are having the same problems that we are! by MissBetsySan Bruno, CA | Mon, Jun 2, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag Verified PurchaseLove my KitchenAid Dishwasher! Is 2-3 years too much to expect a dishwasher to last these days? by WxthomsonMinnetonka, MN | Tue, May 27, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 34 visitors found this helpfulI Love It I am a Sears Home Appliance Salesman myself and spent a lot of time researching which features I would like to have, which features I would actually use and more importantly which manufacturer made my dishwasher. KitchenAid currently is manufactured by the Whirlpool Company, who also make the Kenmore, Kenmore Elite, Maytag and of course Whirlpool Brands. Having said that, down the road if needed (hopefully not) repair parts should be widely accessible. Being American made also played a factor in purchasing this particular unit. Our old Dishwasher was a 1999 Maytag, with a food grinder and a plastic tub. Prior to it breaking down, this unit would sound literally like a helicopter in the kitchen. This new unit, at 46 db, is barely audible if you are standing right next to it. The top controls take a little getting used to. We have accidentally pressed them with our shins while loading the dishes inside of the unit. Also, the rack layout is taking us a little longer than liked to get used to it. This unit fits a whole lot of dishes inside of it, just takes some "tetris-ing" get everything just right. Both of these thing are sure to be operators failure. This dishwasher cleans and drys amazingly well. The only reason why I did not give this a full 5-stars has to do with the amount of time it takes for a complete cycle. It seems to take up towards 2+ hours from start to finish. Nonetheless, still cleans our dishes wonderfully, and definitely worth the money spent on it. I was so excited to replace my appliances and did my due diligence researching dishwashers. I bought this Bosch based somewhat on reviews, and honestly am stunned at how anyone could have given it a positive review. I have had it for two months now, and can't believe how disappointed I am. I have already had a tech come out to honor the warranty - and he told me this is the worst Bosch dishwasher made and this model is his 'bread and butter' for repairs. Cons: It already has rust on the interior hinges. Food gets pushed around and redeposits itself on my dishes - baked on the bottom of my plates and bowls. Forget about cleaning forks. No chance of cleaning a frying pan. I've tried. The prongs on the bottom rack are very close together and ALL of them are slanted over. Great if all you have are thin flat dishes - but forget about putting anything else in it. There are no open spots for bowls or anything not flat. The very top rack is a cool concept, but just misses the mark. It has no large open areas and is very, very shallow - so virtually nothing fits up there. It's wasted space. The dishes come out wet. You cannot use the controls unless the door is open. Then you cannot see the controls once you close and start the dishwasher. There is no clock telling you time remaining, like comparable dishwashers have. And, I'm not kidding when I tell you it is extremely difficult to figure out the functions. I have called tech support and poured through the owners manual just trying to work this dishwasher. It is not intuitive or user friendly. For example - if you open it to add items, anytime after you have selected a cycle such as delayed start, or if it is already running - it just turns the dishwasher off, shuts down completely and cancels out your selections. So you expect the delayed start to happen - but you wake to dirty dishes. It's a dishwasher for goodness sakes - it shouldn't be this frustrating. Pros: - the dishwasher looks great. I love the flat design. Controls on top of door are intuitive and sufficient. Really like the single indicator lamp that shows "end of cycle". Visible across the kitchen. Uncluttered appearance. Pleasantly surprised with brushed stainless steel front. I was concerned about how it would blend with oak cabinets and tile floor. This issue could have been from the online store warehouse or the delivery company but once GE was contacted and involved I was very impressed with their customer service. Once we received the 2nd dishwasher all has been great and the install went even smoother that things lined up and believe it is even quieter. Dishwasher is quiet, has different options and the large size is great for saving on energy and water. It won't dry the dishes for some reason and it leaves soap residue on the plates. But it has been reliabile for nearly four years. Currently the system is giving me an Er 01 code, which suggests that there is a water buildup in the base. I have removed the water and, I believe, the cause of the buildup -- some broken glass in the bottom. Unfortunately, there is no reset mechanism -- or at least there is none described in the owner's manual -- so I can't test whether it is working or not. It's configured differently than a normal dishwasher. The top rack is flat in the back where it goes under the sink but it's fine for large utensils or shallow containers. My only complaints would be that you must use the compatable stainless steel sink that is sold with this dishwasher. The sink is not as deep as a typical sink but I've had no problems with it. My other complaint would be it's not the quietest. I was originally going to purchase the 500 series, but my taller glasses would not fit with the third rack, so I bought a 300 series instead. It is super quiet and cleans my dishes well. I do scrape the food off my plates, but do not clean them thoroughly before loading into the appliance. My previous whirlpool dishwasher had a food grinder so I did not have to rinse the plates at all. Bosch does not have a food grinder so you do have to remove larger food particles from your dishes. Also, Bosch products have a filter at the bottom of the dishwasher that must be cleaned once a week or so. I clean mine more often, since I don't really rinse my dishes all that well. It is easy to clean and only take moments. You will know if you don't clean often enough because a foul odor will greet you when you open the door. There is also about a half inch of water at the bottom of the filter casing that seems to always be there. I don't know what causes this, but seems to be normal, according to other reviews I found. The only other con worth mentioning is that my dishes are not completely dry when I put them away. Apparently Bosch does not have a dry heating element. I just crack it open to let my load dry after it is done running. I realize I have spent most of my time mentioning all the bad traits about a dishwasher I gave five stars. I really do love how quiet it runs! I can't hear it at all! That was the most important factor to me when purchasing a machine, since we have a big family and run it all the time, and we seem to congregate in the kitchen mostly. I just thought I would mention the cons so you could make an informed decision. I hadn't read any of these particular comments before I purchased my machine. We replaced our kitchen floor and had to go with a dishwasher less than 33 1/2 inches high. It does fill the width space and the installer did a nice job of making it look good. It does seem to clean adequately. My appreciation stops there. Every time the door is opened or closed there is a "beep" sound - can't be turned off. I need to pull quite hard to even open the door. The door doesn't open flat so the bottom rack rolls back into the tub. I was especially disappointed with the interior size. It is very small and shallow depth. Don't expect to wash many pans at one time. The silverware rack is a joke. It comes apart and can't be moved to another more convenient place in the dishwasher. I finally took the handle off and removed the slotted covers. The flip-down racks in the upper basket won't stay up and were always in the way of putting glasses, etc. in the dishwasher - they went the way of the silverware covers. The baskets seem cheap and do not look like they will hold up over time. Overall a very poor design. I would not recommend this dishwasher. I have a feeling we will not keep it for very long. The first one was bought just for the price (was the cheapest we could find in the color that we wanted)......lesson learned. The control board failed just shy of its third birthday and it would have cost almost as much to fix it as it would have to just buy a new one. So we opted to buy a new one, do more research, and buy the five year warranty this time. So far, this machine is doing it's job. It looks good, gets the dishes clean, and didn't completely break the bank. It is a little noisy, but we we were unable to use the insulation because the space was too tight. Also, please know this particular color is not stainless steel. It is more of a grey/silver. I was disappointed at first, but am actually more satisfied because the fingerprints are basically non-existent! We love that! The other machine was the shiny stainless it it showed everything, this one does not. I would recommend this dishwasher and found it to be a pretty good buy. I would recommend this product to a friend. by ChristyJo13East Liverpool, OH | Fri, Apr 25, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag This product is quiet and has a sleek look. I have enjoyed this dishwasher for about one month. It is quiet and cleans the dishes well. The main reason I gave it a overall score of four and not a five is the position of utensil basket. It makes it difficult to put tall utensils next to the soap dish. In addition, some of my utensils have a wide handle which does not fit into the narrows holes provided in the basket. by Aurora, | Tue, Apr 8, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag Runs quiet and the adjustable rakes make it very efficient . Happy wife! by Mikedish, | Thu, Mar 27, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 8 visitors found this helpfulVerified PurchaseVery good value The upper sprayer cleans and rinses the upper rack better than my old dishwasher which had a telescopic spray post. This make it so you can put larger pans in the middle of the lower and upper rack. It's a lot quiter than I expected, and does a very good job of cleaning dishes. I don't even rinse, just scrape and load, and almost every time everything is clean. I like the rinse agent guage that lets me know if it needs refilled. The clean light is the best idea ever (for those of you who have used dishes out of a dishwasher and later found they weren't clean!). The only thing I didn't really like was the soap latch. It has a small catch latch for the soap lid, which can be troublesome if you use powder dishsoap and spill it around the latch. Also, the operating manual could have been a little more informative. It does take longer to complete the whole cycle, but that is typical of the machines made nowadays. I run it for the 1 hour cycle and use the Eco dry. There is a "cleaning mode" as it nears completion, but I usually open the door to shut it off. The results afterwards are fantastic for dishes and pots and pans. I can't believe how clean and almost brand new my pots look afterwards. I installed it myself, and because of this, I was able to see how much thought and quality Samsung put into this dishwasher. For example, you can adjust the rear legs with a screw placed in the front of the dishwasher. The adjustable top rack is a great feature. The lower rack still fits standard sized dinner plates when the upper rack is in the lowest position. The rack design is where this dishwasher really excels. We are able to store TWO Christmas dinner's for 5, along with all the snack and drink glassed that were consumed and still had room for more. I estimate that this unit holds more than two times what the old dishwasher held and still washes better. My one complaint would be how wet the dishes were after the wash cycle. After reading the advice from Samsung, we went out and bought some rinse aid (Jet Dry). It makes a world of difference! We have dry exceptionally dry dishes now!
