She loves it. She didn't want all the bells and whistles and the price that comes with it. It was on sale at a great price and has only the options of settings that she will really use. It is so quiet that she has to get up close to it to hear it running. The length of the wash cycle is about one hour and forty-five minutes which is fine with her. It also has a one hour wash cycle if she needs the dishes inside. Very happy wife. The dishwasher has had various problems. It died last month when it started on fire (see http://kitchenaidfire.com/) and the is no support for this. Sears service misled us. Too many problems with our Kenmore appliances, but it looks like it is time to shop elsewhere. by plainsfamilyWells, MN | Sat, Mar 22, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 11 visitors found this helpfulVerified PurchaseHard to install The area under the dishwasher where the conduit and the drain and the water line can go is more limited and less height under the dishwasher (the pump hangs down in a large part of the area where you'd like to run the connections), so this was really tough to install where I removed the older dishwasher. For that alone, I wouldn't recommend it, unless you have a brand new installation with flexibility to run that stuff from the sides. Of course, you can't figure out if the compression fitting is tight enough before you connect everything else, and to tighten it after everything else is connected is excruciating. I can't tell you how much foul language I had to use to get this connected. Exhausting. (And I'm pretty handy for an old lady DIY type, got all the tools and lots of experience.) It's got all the basics, but where my old D/W was a nice stainless shell, this one is plastic. I guess it's cheaper to ship from china. Sigh. Even the more expensive ones are all plastic now. Wish I coulda fixed the old one! Don't buy this unless you are very patient and experienced, OK? Haven't used it yet, but unless it's just wretched, I'm certainly not removing it! by kdd999Long Beach, CA | Wed, Mar 12, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 6 visitors found this helpfulVerified PurchaseI bought this on clearance This is a great dishwasher! They aren't built like they used to be. Just beyond the 1 year warranty period we began getting an E24 error code. That means the water wasn't draining or at least the dishwasher thought it wasn't. One year, two repair visits and a third estimate later the dishwasher still doesn't work very often and no one seems to have a clear solution to the problem. We're $200 poorer and have decided to replace it with anything other than a Bosch before throwing anymore money at this piece of junk. Bosch's reputation is sliding fast as they've turned to low quality parts to increase their profits. JUNK! I bought this unit thinking I was buying not only one of the best dishwashers on the market but also the most environmentally friendly and a good brand. It's true the unit didn't 'dry' the dishes but I can live with that. My problem was it quit working entirely after 6 months. The electronic menu board gave an error message. My household consists of two working adults. The dishwasher is not used regularly. My 'top of the line' dishwasher has been down about two months and still no fix. The Sear's repair person come out 3 times and still has to make another trip to see if he can get it operational. I'm very disappointed in Bosch and Sears. The unit is still under warranty but I've had to take off from work for the repairs. After one more trip from Sear's repair, the lemon law will go into effect. Save yourself money, time, and aggravation and select another model. I'm extremely frustrated with my purchase. by plinkFort Valley, GA | Wed, Aug 17, 2011 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 6 visitors found this helpfulSmelly and badly designed, never again a Bosch dishwasher In the past 17 months, I have spent far too much time on my hands and knees, using a turkey baster and/or a ladle to remove the dirty, smelly water that collects in the bottom of this overpriced and underperforming machine. (The mechanism that is supposed to drain this water doesn't do the job.) The dishwasher often gives off a sickly smell of decaying food, like the dumpster behind a restaurant. The filters need to be cleaned constantly, an unpleasant and time-consuming process, since they acquire a sticky, gummy surface residue. It is all more effort than it is worth. After little more than a year of use, we will probably cart this machine to the dump and buy a new one. It won't be a Bosch. by FulvousSeattle, WA | Sat, Jul 30, 2011 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 5 visitors found this helpfulDO NOT BUY THIS! It's not fancy, don't expect it to be amazingly quiet or have a ton of cycle options. I can hear this unit in my living room but it doesn't require you to turn up the TV. At 54dbs, it's probably 1/3 the noise of the 1980's KitchenAid it replaced. 2. I always use the Smart Wash cycle, it uses an optical sensor to measure how dirty the dishes are, and how many are in the unit. Expect this cycle to run 2 hours MINIMUM, including the 30 minute dry time. For me this makes no difference, I turn it on and leave the house, usually. 3. Rinse Aid is definitely recommended, when I went cheap and didn't use it, all the dishes were sopping wet when I removed them. Rinse Aid is worth the extra $ IMHO. 4. I've had no serious problems with the dishwasher in 3 years besides the rinse aid cap becoming warped and getting stuck, the service contract I purchased with the product covered this, which is good since the cap cost around $35. 5. Most newer dishwashers use a filtration disposer system instead of a grinder, and there is a filter in the bottom that should be checked every month or so, I've never had anything in mine but it's worth checking to be safe. 6. There isn't much need to pre-rinse with this thing, I eat oatmeal out of the bowl and throw it right in, everything gets cleaned 100%, the only thing I do is scrape off big chunks that wouldn't go through the filter. Pre rinsing is a huge water waster. All in all it's a good unit, my next one will probably have a stainless tub for less noise, but for what I paid it does a nice job cleaning and is quite efficient. We bought this dish washer last year. We've owned six washers in the many houses we've lived in during the past 45 years (so we've obviously had a lot of practice with operating dish washers) but this washer is absolutely the worst! It cleans okay, but it's noisy, takes four hours to do a complete cycle and it doesn't dry the dishes; we have to leave the door open to let it air dry for another two or three hours or dry the dishes ourselves. We called for service and even though we have an extended warranty, we were given such guff by the customer service rep (who obviously didn't want to send out a serviceman) that our good opinion of Kenmore products has gone down the chute. Wish we'd returned it when we had the chance and bought something else. We'll be a lot more hesitant about buying Sears appliances in the future--especially when we have to go through a song and dance to get them repaired UNDER WARRANTY! Great machine for the price! by Lizzie, | Fri, Feb 21, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag Did not deliver a great wash as I had hoped I have been using this model for 6 months and purchased to replace an existing unit.I selected this model for the features such as being quiet, the folding racks, the stainless steel interior. The features are great, however I really dislike a few things: First, the design of the rolling lower basket. The basket miss-aligns and falls off track if you do not really pay attention to how you push the rack back into the unit. When this happens, all the dishes crash together causing an opportunity for damage. It is also very difficult to get the rack back on track if the rack (cart) falls while fully loaded with dishes. Secondly; this unit never fully rinses well. Many times I end up hand washing the dishes. I have tried most all detergents and rinse products on the market. And, the third issue is the spacing in the racks do not align well for many of my plates and bowls. Else, the product looks great and is real quiet. I just find it lacks that ability to wash well. I would not recommend this model to others. by Anonymous, | Sun, Jan 26, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag This is a very good dishwasher. This is a very good dishwasher. Living in Florida where the water is very hard, I'm getting crystal clear glasses. I add a little lemishine and it works perfect. Sometimes the dishes do not clean fully and a redo is necessary the reason for 4 stars. That is the disappointing thing. We picked it because it wasn't too tall, would fit in our opening and is white. The best part about this is how quiet it is and the water efficiency. We have a large family and school our children online, so a lot of our time is devoted to that. Having to school my kids 4+ hours, take care of the little one, plus stand there at the kitchen sink and do dishes for a family of 5 is unacceptable to me. The AnyWhere flatware basket was a big selling feature for me, along with the color, price, and exterior design. This unit cleans dishes, and pots and pans very well, the exterior design is really nice looking, and it's much quieter than the one it replaced. However, the flatware will not dry, no matter what cycle or drying option I select. Even with a full reservoir of rinse aid (which I've never needed before), I have to dry each utensil by hand when I unload it. I also agree with others' comments about the poor design of the basket. In addition, I can't place long utensils like serving spoons in front of the detergent reservoir because they block its snap-down door. Now the gasket around the opening to the rinse aid reservoir is coming out. Also, two pieces of rubber have fallen out of the door hinge area, and the door falls open unless it's shut. I understand that I can fix that problem by tightening the door springs, but that means sliding the unit out from under the counter. I am concerned that the top loading rack is much smaller that my old Kenmore. It doesn't quite fit large mouth glasses or coffee mugs very well and I still am trying to figure out where to place cereal bowls. The silverware caddy on the door is awkward so I've moved it into the bottom rack. My silverware handles are to wide to fit into the caddy slots to I have to flip the slots open and just bundle my silverware. Everything's good but the flatware rack The placement of the flatware rack on the door seemed like a good idea, but it is not very convenient for loading. Also, the holes are a bit small. Most of our flatware only fits in the back row. Flipping the tops up and letting everything nest together is an option, but defeats the purpose of the rack. The rack can be placed in the lower basket, but that consumes valuable real estate and is also rather awkward. Overall, it is very quiet and seems to be well made. Plenty of options for those who want to fine-tune things. by RLnc, | Mon, Jan 20, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag Super quiet. Very high quality. We love our new dishwasher. This is a very nice unit. It is so quite I need to almost put my ear to it to make sure it's running, wow! Does a great job on all our dishes and pots and pans. I love almost everything about it except 1.) It doesn't have a quick wash cycle, which my old whirlpool gold series had and which I loved. 2.) My old unit lasted 10 years, this one is 1 1/2 years old and the top rack on the right side already broke. There is a little plastic unit that sticks out and attaches to a small round white wheel which is how the unit slides along an thin metal bar to be pulled in and out. Well the plastic unit that sticks out broke off the wheel. You can put it back in, but it will no longer stay attached firmly. I'll need to see about replacing this piece, but I'm very disappointed that it's had an issue and not even two years old. That's because of the stress of cups etc you put in the top rack when you pull that rack out, but it should be more resilient that this. 3.) Also there is a common adaptor needed for attaching the unit to the water supply when installing, and it did not bring it. I had to order that separately which delayed my installation as there was no mention it would not be included. This is the 5th washer I've installed in my life (for friends, family, and myself) and all units I've bought brought that adapter. Way to save some money Whirlpool and inconvenience the customer, and no you generally cannot re-use the one from your old unit as it will mostly likely no longer make a tight seal and thus leak. At least warn people of the potential for the need of this part, maybe Sears should at checkout like they often do with the need for washing machine hoses and electrical plugs. It was very disappointing for something so minor to fail. by TracyTMSylvania, OH | Sun, Feb 23, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag Replaced a Bosch. We're happy. One year into owning this washer and we are satisfied. Replacing our 18 year old Bosch which ran reliably and quietly called for careful comparisons. This one won on our primary criteria: dish cleaning capability, low energy consumption, low sound levels and prospect for durability. So far so good. Dish cleaning is excellent. The interior is very large and well organized. We use the smart cycle which somehow measures the dirt level of the dirty contents and washes accordingly. We also keep the dry cycle off to save electricity and still find the vertically loaded dishes, glasses and silverware dry just from the heat of the water. Rinsing the filter is quick and infrequent - maybe three times in our first year of ownership. Our electricity and gas bills dropped noticeably after installing this washer - enough so to save the price of the washer in about 11 years - maybe less if utility prices keep rising. it is fairly quiet - not the quietest available - but quiet enough. One note: the low energy Smart Cycle can take a long time to complete, so starting it when you head for bed works well. In the morning the dishes are long done and dry. So far no issues with durability. We decided to replace it with this model because it was 6.5 years old and probably newer would be better. Boy were we wrong! The first thing I noticed when first loading is that the upper rack is too short to allow my kids 9" plastic dinner plates. Those will have to be hand washed apparently. All the spacing tines are straight so bowls don't fit well and tend to topple over so I can only fit about 3 per row. I will have to wash smaller loads more frequently so this is NOT very economical or water friendly to my septic system. I also noticed how loud this is compared to the last model- wow! I won't be doing dishes while using the kitchen if I want to hear anyone talking. Our house was built in 1836 so there is no place I can put a built in dishwasher. Our last model was several hundred dollars less and a much better designed model. The little locking tab which sticks out of the front inside looks like it's just waiting to be bent and incapacitate the machine. I would NOT have bought this model if it had been on display at the store or it mentioned the very low clearance of the upper rack. I am very disappointed and am considering returning it. I cannot call this large capacity since bowls don't fit well and take up 3-4 spaces and 9" plastic kids plates can't be washed without taking up 3 spaces by tilting. I also cannot call it efficient for water, electricity or detergent for the same reason- I have to wash twice as many loads to get the amount my last may tag DW did in each load. Had to replace our failed GE Triton DW that was 13 years old. The old one was louder but it worked well, really well. This one sure is quiet but it's performance is terrible. -If it dries the dishes, they are soaked as soon as you pull the top rack out which carries the bottom sprayer that is till full of rinse water. -The silverware racks are small and the silverware doesn't get that clean. -The top rack tines are spaced so far apart (1.5" on center) that a pint glass (3.25" diam at the rim)) will slide between them while it has one tine inside it. -The bottom rack as the tines bent so the plates all have to be oriented to the right. Good luck getting the last plate on the right clean. -The stem glass holder is pretty useless as well and the problem is compounded by the wide spacing of the tines on the top rack Extremely disappointed. I installed it myself, and because of this, I was able to see how much thought and quality Samsung put into this dishwasher. For example, you can adjust the rear legs with a screw placed in the front of the dishwasher. The adjustable top rack is a great feature. The lower rack still fits standard sized dinner plates when the upper rack is in the lowest position. The rack design is where this dishwasher really excels. We are able to store TWO Christmas dinner's for 5, along with all the snack and drink glassed that were consumed and still had room for more. I estimate that this unit holds more than two times what the old dishwasher held and still washes better. My one complaint would be how wet the dishes were after the wash cycle. After reading the advice from Samsung, we went out and bought some rinse aid (Jet Dry). It makes a world of difference! We have dry exceptionally dry dishes now! I purchased this dishwasher and had nothing but trouble. 1) The dishwasher lacks the upper spray arm which results in the top items never coming out completely clean (you will always need to wipe down items with a damp towel). 2) The dishwasher does not drain completely so you are washing with dirty water each time. 3) The waste system is nothing more than a small spinning blade which does not work effectively (i know because Sears replaced the motor at least four times and I saw the disposal system up close). 4) There is no filter. Almost exactly 365 days after we bought it, however, it started to have problems. On a cold night, the plastic (!) water valve broke, first causing no water to enter and then exploding water all over the kitchen and into the basement . Luckily, we were there when it happened and could turn off the water supply. Then, the drying stopped working. We have now had the machine for 17 months and have had 4 or 5 visits from repairmen since December. They have replaced the fan, the soap and JetDry dispenser, and the vent, as well needing adjustments to several other bits and pieces. When they encounter a new problem, they rarely have the needed part on their trucks, meaning that the part has to be ordered and they have to come back again to install it. Scheduling their visits isn't bad as long as you are at home every day. Bottom line: Don't even think about buying this dishwasher unless you are willing to also pay for the extended warranty. Our Sears salesman suggested it (as salesmen always do), but I was convinced by the seriousness of the way he offered his suggestion. We also had to replace our over the range microwave since it caught on fire while heating up a dish. So our first purchase was the matching maytag over the range microwave which works great and looks fantastic! Of course I had to have the matching dishwasher. With the reviews ranking so high compared to others we decided to purchase the maytag. We had some caked on food because we wanted to see just how good it really was and it removed all the caked on food. We were amazed! Its so quiet we had to touch it to see if it was even still running. The washing time was about a hour and a half however you can adjust the wash time. The adjustable top rack is great and so is the space inside. What we didnt like was at purchase we were informed that all dishwasher dont come with any cords or the hookup hoses. This product: Whirlpool 24" Built-In Dishwasher w/ PowerScour? Option - White Ice $629.1 Everything's good but the flatware rack The placement of the flatware rack on the door seemed like a good idea, but it is not very convenient for loading. Plenty of options for those who want to fine-tune things. by RLnc Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag Super quiet. Very high quality. We love our new dishwasher. We bought the black version when our old Maytag busted a gut on XMAS EVE (great timing, Maytag!) Due to our terrible experiences with the Maytag and its GE predecessor --neither lasted five years-- we bought a service insurance plan and prepared for the worst--i.e., being noisier, less efficient, and less reliable than claimed. This unit takes 2 hours to do a load, and we can watch TV in our living room (open floor plan), and it cleans dishes much better than anything we've ever had in the past. This flatware container arrangement is a little funky, but we kept our squarish basket from the maytag if we want to replace. If you're on the fence, get off it and buy this thing right now while it's on sale. by 4d3fectGrover Beach, CA | Sun, Mar 23, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag seems good quality for price Just had it installed and running first full cycle. Very quiet. Nice blue lights indicating what cycles/actions when on. Looks nice, very nice with dark grey panel that looked black in photos...still looks nice. Has weird start up, takes five start and stops before it will begin washing. Only happens if you interrupt a cycle by opening a door. Very weird...will be watching out for that issue. Don't like the silverware tray. Smaller than my last machines so kind of disappointed in that but at least can be place in lower b asket, I really don't like door-mounted silverware trays. My dishes fit pretty good, upper rach not as easy to fit cups, bowls, small items into. weird configuration. tines bend but i don't want to damage the coating...I will learn new ways! It isn't getting a 5 yet because I am running the first cycle....after a month I will update results. All in all I like it, now let's see if it really cleans and stands up to normal usage. by MrScrutinizer, | Thu, Feb 27, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 2 visitors found this helpfulVerified PurchaseAwesome Dishwasher After the install, we went to use the dishwasher the first time and had to check to make sure it was running, you can't even here this thing. The dishes though, came out cleaner than they did through our old one for years. Love the style, the look fits our other Sears products great, and the way it works I love.. Nothing bad to say at all. I would buy this again in a heart beat... I would recommend this product to a friend. by lrdentonTwin Falls, ID | Wed, Feb 19, 2 read more
