Sony's XDCAM EX lineup continues to expand and improve with the PMW-320K Full HD Camcorder. Nearly identical to the larger-sensor ...PMW-350L, this professional shoulder-mount camera boasts three 1/2inch-type full-HD CMOS sensors, solid state SxS workflow and an impressive set of advanced features, setting new standards for affordable, high-end videography. With a chassis based on the XDCAM HD422, the PMW-320K also manages to be one of the lightest--and most well-balanced--camcorders in its class (even factoring in the included 16x interchangeable Fujinon lens). But comfort and portability are only the beginning. Pressing the Record button reveals what the PMW-320K is really about: topnotch image quality. And this camcorder comes by it honestly, whether in its High Quality 35Mbs HD setting or using the optional 25Mbs DVCAM recording mode. Either way, your images are captured quietly and efficiently to SxS PRO or the new, lower-cost SxS-1 memory cards--storing up to 280 minutes of MPEG-2 HD video on two 32GB cards. You can even record uncompressed 4:2:2 video by capturing to an external recorder via the camera's HD-SDI output. Exceptionally low power consumption (down to 15W) means the PMW-320K can run on a single 90Wh battery for up to 5 hours, which is not only good for the environment, but fewer batteries mean less weight (and lower costs) on long-distance shoots. Other features--some passed down from Sony's higher-end F900R and PDW-700--are also worth highlighting, including scene file settings, adjustable gamma, and Matrix settings that can be stored on memory cards. Four channels of audio and a viewfinder that incorporates the EX1/EX3's entire high-resolution LCD screen (and adds image flip) make the shooter's job even easier. With the introduction of the PMW-320K, Sony reaffirms its XDCAM EX cameras as serious high-definition contenders. Three 1/2inch-type Exmor CMOS Sensors The PMW-320K is equipped with three newly developed 1/2inch-type Exmor CMOS sensors, each with an effective pixel count of 1920 (H) x 1080 (V). These deliver superior picture performance with full-HD resolution. This 1/2inch-type image sensor allows the camcorder to provide an excellent sensitivity of F10 in 60Hz mode (F11 in 50Hz), a remarkable signal-to-noise ratio of 54dB, and a high horizontal resolution of 1000 TV lines (in 1920 x 1080/59.94i mode). In addition, the large sensors can capture images with a shallower depth of field, giving users more freedom of creative expression. What's more, the Exmor CMOS sensor's unique design deploys an A/D converter to each column of pixels, resulting in a much lower clock speed than conventional CMOS sensors. This makes it possible to greatly reduce power consumption of the camcorder. 1920 x 1080 HD Recording Using the inchMPEG-2 Long GOPinch Codec The PMW-320K records 1920 x 1080 full HD images using the inchMPEG-2 Long GOPinch codec, which conforms to the MPEG-2 MP@HL compression standard. inchMPEG-2 Long GOPinch is a mature codec--also adopted by the XDCAM HD and HDV 1080i series of products--which enables users to record stunning HD video and audio with highly efficient, reliable data compression. Selectable Recording Modes Including DVCAM Recording The PMW-320K offers a choice of bit rates--either 35Mbs (HQ mode) or 25Mbs (SP mode)--depending on the desired picture quality and recording time. The HQ mode supports 1920 x 1080, 1440 x 1080 and 1280 x 720 resolutions. The 1440 x 1080 mode is new to the PMW-320K, ensuring native integration of XDCAM EX footage into an XDCAM HD Professional Disc workflow. By supporting 1440 x 1080, 35Mbs recording, material can be utilized with no transcode, just a rewrap to MXF for NL read more

Combining a compact form factor and professional video features, the Canon XA30 is well-suited for event coverage, wedding videogr...aphy, independent and documentary filmmaking, and other applications that require a compact, professional camera. It is equipped with a 20x Canon optical zoom lens with a versatile 35mm equivalent range of 26.8 to 576mm, and features a 1/2.84inch, HD CMOS Pro sensor with enhanced sensitivity for improved low-light performance over the previous model. To fit into your workflow, the camcorders captures up to 1920x1080 video at 23.98p, 29.97p, 59.94p, and 59.94i frame rates, while also offering Slow and Fast Motion recording modes, as well as an interval recording option to capture fast motion of up to 1200x the original speed. In addition to the standard gamma recording mode, the XA30 offers Wide DR and Highlight Priority Gamma modes. Wide DR compresses high brightness areas to achieve a wider dynamic range of 600%. This not only helps suppress overexposure, but also produces smooth gradations in highlights and shadows, all while maintaining a finalized look that eliminates the need for post-production processing. The Highlight Priority Mode gives an HDR-like quality to your video by reducing the amount of highlight and mid-tone compression on the gamma curve, which helps to maintain highlight exposure. The mode also enhances brightness and saturation for more faithful color reproduction. A View Assist Mode is available to support this mode, enabling you to more accurately monitor what the final images will look like. The XA30 features both a 3.5inch OLED Touch Panel view screen with a 10,000:1 contrast ratio, and a color electronic viewfinder with 1,560,000 dots of resolution. The camera features full manual control and auto modes for exposure, focus, white balance, gain, and shutter speed. The camera provides professional features such as a pre-record buffer, peaking, zebra bars, color bars, and reference tone. The zoom speed is adjustable with variable, constant (with 16 different speed levels), fast, normal and slow settings. The camera features a detachable top handle with zoom toggle, record start/stop, IR emitter, tally light, accessory shoe, external mic holder and two XLR connectors with phantom power and manual audio level controls. The XA30 includes a built-in headphone jack and a mini-HDMI connector, and outputs composite video and audio via a 3.5mm four pole mini jack. Two built-in SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card slots allow you to record video to available media cards in both slots at the same time. This allows you to create an instant back up copy for archiving and data protection or you can capture high resolution AVCHD or MP4 video files on one card while creating a lower data rate MP4 more suitable for the web on the other card. When using two media cards and the camera is in Relay mode, there is no need to stop shooting to swap out a full media card. When one card becomes full, recording seamlessly switches to the other card. Built-in dual-band Wi-Fi allows you FTP video files directly from the camera, or playback footage from the memory cards to Wi-Fi enabled TVs and Computers. You can also remotely control select camera functions from a smart phone or tablet over Wi-Fi, freeing you from remote cables. HD CMOS Pro Image Sensor The XA30 features a new 1/2.84-inch HD CMOS Pro Image Sensor that captures approximately 2136x1362 pixels. It features a +3dB improvement in signal-to-noise ratio compared to the previous model, allowing it to camera clearer and sharper images in low light conditions. 20x Canon Optical Zoom Lens The Canon 20x HD Zoom Lens provides a zoom range with a 35mm equivalent of 26.8 to 576m read more

The first in Sony's line of NXCAM solid-state camcorders, the HXR-NX5U is also the company's first professional-level AVCHD camcor...der. And while it may look similar to its HDV predecessor, the HVR-Z5U, in fact this is a very different animal. Its ability to capture HD and SD video in AVCHD and MPEG-2 formats--and save it to solid state media--is only one of its distinctive traits. Full-raster 1920 x 1080 video is another, including the option of recording 720/60p video as well as 60i, 30p and 24p. And because the NX5U can capture to media cards plus an optional flash memory unit, you can simultaneously record a different signal to each, whether HD + a backup or HD + SD. The footage is then easily downloaded to a computer or backup drive using USB 2.0. Three 1/3inch CMOS Exmor sensors, a 20x 'G' lens and dual XLR inputs are carried over from the Z5U, but the beautiful video and audio these elements produce are now in service to a higher level of professional control. An HD-SDI output makes this one of the most affordable camcorders to provide uncompressed 4:2:2 output, while HDMI and RCA outputs allow for connection to professional and consumer-grade monitors alike. Timecode sync between two or more cameras is also possible, and the addition of GPS technology makes for another first on an AVCHD pro camcorder. Meanwhile, a newly designed user interface--including convenient MODE buttons and a touch-screen menu--make setup and operation easier than ever. And if touch-screen controls aren't your thing, there are the usual navigation keys and thumbwheel to help get you around. Whether you're recording at one of the camera's four bit rates (24/17/9/5Mbps), taking advantage of simultaneous or relay HYBRID capture, or recording AC-3 or linear PCM audio, the HVR-NX5U gives you near-professional flexibility and control on a prosumer budget. Exmor 3 CMOS Sensors Three Exmor CMOS sensors with a ClearVid array comprise a state-of-the-art sensor system from Sony which realizes high resolution, high sensitivity, a wide dynamic range, and excellent color reproduction, regardless of the codec. Memory Recording and HYBRID Memory recording on affordable consumer memory cards offers workflow efficiency at both the shooting and editing stages. Combined with hybrid recording, using an optional HXR-FMU128, the user achieves a totally IT-based workflow, with the added bonus of instant data backup. AVCHD Format The revolutionary AVCHD recording format, which utilizes the MPEG-4, AVC/H.264 video codec, allows users to record HD video footage onto random access media, such as Memory Stick PRO Duo and SDHC memory cards. Its intelligent and sophisticated algorithm makes AVCHD a highly efficient compression format ideal for memory recording and IT-based editing. G Lens inchG Lensinch, the lens featured in other successful Sony camcorders, already enjoys an excellent industry reputation. In the HXR-NX5U, this sophisticated lens is optimized to complement the camcorder's advanced image sensor and image-processing technology. Natural-touch Lens Operation The focus, zoom and iris ring are positioned on the lens barrel, and this design offers the same operability as general interchangeable lenses. Focus, zoom and iris control can all be managed easily. Six-blade Iris The six-blade iris diaphragm is nearly circular, enabling the creation of an extremely beautiful background blur. Built-in ND filters The HXR-NX5U is equipped with three built-in ND (Neutral Density) filters--1/4, 1/16, 1/64--which help to vary the depth of field with iris control.
