This dryer is so easy to use and I love the large capacity it holds! We live in the country and have lots of cattle and I really like being able to dry Carhart coveralls and barn clothes without going to the laundry mat to use their large washer/dryers. It makes my life so much easier because I am spending less time doing laundry which allows me more time to do the things I want to do. The only problem that I have encountered is that some times with comforters or large loads, some clothes do not get completely dry in the allotted time, so I have to remove some of the items or unload/reload bulky items so the wet parts get dry. This isn't often, but with the sensors I would have thought that they would pick up on this. Other than that, I really LOVE this dryer! It makes my life so much easier with the wrinkle shield....I usually iron most everything, but not anymore! :) by CountryGirl54, | Mon, Apr 14, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag Love the dryer...especially when I do not get the clothes out right away The dryer is easy to use and does a great job getting the wrinkles out with the steam feature. After owning two other brands of a stacked laundry unit, this is the best. Washer Pros--washer really cleans, it spins out all water so clothes dry faster, and no need for specialized detergent; Cons--capacity is limited by water filling only half-way in the tub, runs rather noisy, Hot cycle not Hot, and water doesn't fill until lid down. Dryer Pros---very quiet operation, large capacity, dries fast, many cycle options, easy-to-clean lint filter, Finish buzzer on/off switch, lighted tub. The 7.8 cu. ft. GE® electric dryer GTDS850EDWW puts you in control of drying. Instead of using default setting, your preferred set...tings are stored so you can select the cycle right for your load. Even large loads come out... Steam-enabled dryer is a great innovation! I`ve been shopping for a steam-enabled dryer for 2 years and am excited to replace my 20-year old dryer with the GE unit, which is paired to the new top-loading washer. The dryer receives moisture and load data from the washer via a network cable. This is my first experience with a HE washer, so I`ve been overwhelmed by the freshness and reduced dry time, due to the high-speed spin of the washer, requiring far less dryer time. The combination of the two produces much softer clothes, even for clothes I`ve had for over a year. My only recommendation is to make sure you have a good connection on the water hose, used for the steam, as mine leaked, only due to my fault, not tightening the connector well. by MNoonan, | Tue, May 6, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag Best Dryer Ever! The perfect solution for small laundry spaces. This 8 cycle, 4 temperature, large capacity Thin Twin® combination washer and elect...ric dryer is designed to fit into small spaces and provide high performance cleaning. Save space ? One complete stacked unit... A disappointment Our 22 year old Maytag stacked unit suddenly quit going into the fast spin and the clothes came out wringing wet. We purchased this Whirlpool unit as a replacement, which was installed February 6th 2014. It leaked all over the floor and was removed February 7th and was found to have a cracked outer tub and a rusty pump. A replacement was ordered and was delivered February 19th, leaving us without any laundry equipment for nearly two weeks. The replacement, fortunately does not leak but as compared with our old Maytag, when it had been working properly, the spin is not nearly as fast, and the clothes are not as dry going into the dryer as out old Maytag had delivered. I guess things are not made as good as they were 22 years ago. Samsung makes poor quality washers and dryers despite the positive reviews in Consumer Reports. They don't always get it right. And this time, they were way off the mark. The steam function pours water directly into the electric dryer. There is a real danger of electric shock. And the dryer lacks the ability to thoroughly dry towels. I bought this for a second story installation to avoid vibration. The dryer vibrates when running empty. Clearly Samsung's vibration technology is just simply not true. And even the noise level is another big disappointment. The thought of having this removed from my second story only adds to my stress. It wasn't easy getting the washer and dryer up the stairs. Now I have to repeat this process twice more, once to remove them, and another time to install something else. Samsung makes ****. Shiny **** that looks nice in the showroom, but will only disappoint the consumer. There are better alternatives. by QualityConsumerMedford, MA | Thu, Oct 25, 2012 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag read more

GE is the name I trust for home appliances I've used the same dryer for at least 5 years. The old unit got replaced not because it was inoperative, but was actually due to a bird got into the vent and baby birds got trapped within the dryer's internal duct causing bad smell. Anyway, dryers in this size are hard to find. Dryer is easy to operate; no frills. Noise is at a reasonably low level. Could hardly hear any sound since my dryer is located in a room. Drying time could range from 40 to 60 minutes, depending on the type of fabric. Cycle time could be improved by drying similar fabric at the same time. Filter located by the door is easy to clean. So far we have not seen any of the mechanical problems described by other reviewers, however there are problems. About once every two weeks a shirt button will get caught in the dryer tub vent screen. The shirt will twist up into a wrinkled mess, and the button will come off the shirt. It seems the square holes in the vent screen are just the right size to catch and hold a button. Very annoying. When the spin cycle engages, the machine is as noisy as a locomotive. I really like how many settings the machine has for water depth. It makes it easy to do different amounts of clothes. From just 3 small things to 6 pairs of jeans. I really love the fact that you can leave the door to the washer open after a load, so that it doesn't get that moldy smell. The dryer is easy to load and takes quite a lot of clothes.. And they dry very quickly and come out soft and completely dry. I don't like how hard you have to pull, to open the door to the dryer. And the filter design is wrong. We included the pedestal in our purchase and that has been good for our backs. The whites come out very clean. Also, we can wash zippered clothes without ruining the zippers which was the case with the agitator washer we had. It runs a bit loud but it is in the basement so that is not a problem. by Smoky97, | Tue, Jun 3, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag Excellent Features I have had this dryer for about 9 months now and love it. There are features that I thought I would never use, but once I got used to them I would miss them a lot. The steam feature is such a time saver. If you are not right on top of getting your clothes out of the dryer, just use the steam setting and your clothes come out wrinkle free. I never thought I would need the timer to set the dryer to come on, but turns out it is the perfect feature if you have to go somewhere. Set it to start before you come home, so the clothes are nearly done when you get home, and you have saved and hour waiting for the load to dry and no wrinkled clothes laying in the dryer. I do a lot of my clothing on the same setting, which is not a standard setting, so another great feature is the custom "my cycle". Besides all of the time saving features, my electric bills have gone down quite a bit since we got this dryer. Since we haven't made any other major changes, I have to attribute the lower electric bills to the dryer. by purrleacatz, | Tue, Jun 3, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag Not for people with bad backs. As a leader in smart technology and stylish design, LG's 24 in. compact condensing ventless drying system dries clothes without th...e need for external venting. Perfect for apartments, condos or small spaces. 4.2 cubic foot... View information provided by the manufacturer 1 visitors found this helpfulVerified Purchasepoor technology Neither the sales rep nor I understood that this unit is ventless. Upon 3rd or 4th use it started leaking water on the floor. Because it is ventless, water recondenses. It is supposed to collect in a pan for you to dump. Once lint collects inside, the system gets plugged and water goes all over. Sears personnel in TX were impossible to work with to settle this issue. The people at Sears are very poorly trained to help you! by KellererererPortland, OR | Mon, May 5, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 3 visitors found this helpfulWonderful dryer! We have had the dryer for just over a month - but it has been used every day, sometimes three times a day. I am delighted with it in almost every way. The best thing is that it is ventless, so that there is no hot air being blown outside the house, or fluff escaping from scrunched extractor hoses. In fact it keeps the house quite warm, which on these cold days is good. It works perfectly draining the condensation down the pipe along with the washing machine water. I also (silly though it may seem) LOVE the tune it plays when it is finished. It is very cheerful and a huge improvement on the terrible beep that is usual (and that one usually turns off.) The one bad thing is that large sheets and duvet covers get rolled into a tangle - and that is really very bad. But otherwise it dries perfectly and efficiently and I love it. by Mevijo, | Wed, Feb 5, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 1 visitors found this helpfulDryer Breaks Right After Warranty Ends This product has a 12 month warranty. Wouldn't you know it, it broke in the 13th month. Last weekend, we were drying clothes and the spinning stopped, a moderately loud droning noise came on. There was a burning smell. We unplugged it and tried again. It runs for a few minutes and stops. No burning smell again, but still doesn't work. It will cost us at least $150 to fix, not to mention the fact that we have it stacked in a closet and the repair company says they can't work on it unless we get it out ourselves! Don't spend your money on this product. by Dryer Buyer, | Mon, Oct 21, 2013 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 6 visitors found this helpfulIt fits, It works I've read many reviews on this web site and others...some good, some bad. No more moldy walls or wet air. The water from your wet clothes pumps down your drain or into an easily dumped container. Although it takes a little longer than a regular dryer, the clothes get just as dry. This is compact - you cannot dry king size blankets (sheets are OK). I bought it along with the matching washer so that I could take advantage of the common cycles and the high speed spin rate of the washer, which wrings more water from the clothes making the dryer perform better. The built-in pedestal puts these appliances at exactly the right height, and they are included with the units at no additional cost. The dry cycle features easy to use and understand, and the ability to customize the cycle is excellent. On my old dryer I always just used timed dry as the other cycles just didn't seem to work well. So far every cycle I have used on this dryer has done exactly what it was supposed to do. So far so good... Once I got these units installed we had a lot of laundry to get done so I've ran several loads through these units. The thing I noticed right away was that the clothes come out of the dryer only slightly warm instead of too hot to handle like my old dryer. That one thing will mean much less shrinkage. The other thing I noticed is that wrinkles are pretty much non-existent using this dryer, even for clothes that tend to wrinkle. I purposely left a load of clothes in the dryer to let them "wrinkle up", just so I could test the steam and fluff functions. They worked flawlessly. I had my old washer and dryer pair for 21 years without a single service call. I am hoping to get the same life out of these units. Only time will tell. by CO_Blake, | Thu, May 22, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag read more

The drier drys clothes very fast. by RJ, | Wed, May 14, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag Nice Dryer First thing that surprised me was the interior light. It's very helpful and I like it very much. I'm not so sure I like the sensor dry. It seems to only work well when there is a very small load. Otherwise it's a good dryer. The wrinkle care function is nice and really does reduce wrinkles. There is a nice selection of cycles available also. by meester, | Tue, Mar 11, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 1 visitors found this helpfulExcellent product, and a great price! I've had my dryer for about 2 months, and absolutely love it! It is quiet, very easy to use, and offers plenty of drying options. I researched dryers quite a bit before buying this one, and I am confident that I made a good choice. by Becca40, | Sat, Mar 1, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag Seems to be a good product with nice features. Very Happy, it easy to use, quiet and it looks good by Larry314, | Sat, Feb 1, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag Love the features! This dryer is not only very large but has really wonderful features. Love the fact that it has a freshen up cycle which is wonderful if I have to leave while clothes are drying and don't make it back before drying is completed. Have much more control over the heat settings so shrinkage is no longer a problem. And, of course, the little tune it plays lightens my mood! Highly recommend this dryer.. by Sandibeaches, | Thu, Jan 23, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag Good dryer for the price. We bought along with the same model washer (2250). Drys great. Washer is a big help as it really wrings out the water. Quick time for the cycle. Only one caveat for stacking this dryer on top of the washer. Shorter people need a step stool to empty it out. We don't have it on a pedestal either. My 5' tall sister can not get the clothes out without some help to ensure all clothes are gotten. by sds, | Mon, Jan 6, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag Buy This! I bought this dryer, along with the matching front-load washer, and laundry has become fun! My clothes dry much more quickly than my previous dryer; the many settings provide lots of options, and I love the sensor signal that lets you know when some of your clothes are dry (so you can remove them from the dryer) and then finish up the load. I, too, wish there was a signal to tell me when the dryer is in wrinkle-care mode, but I'll just need to pay better attention to the timing. LG has done a good thing here! by TerriG, | Sun, Jan 5, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag Worth the investment I bought this w/d pair and have loved it ever since. I almost want to call my friends and have them bring laundry. I love doing laundry. This gives such good care to your clothing. The front-loading pair are fantastic for ergonomic convenience. I highly recommend you get the storage drawers for under the pair. This product is well worth an investment. You'll save on clothing costs because of the care it gives them. The large tub holds a large load of wash and gets it dry in a short time, just is no problem for this machine. We were limited in space so the smooth back works best for our space. Just a great, great dryer. by CarolAnnie, | Sat, Apr 26, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag Handles large loads with ease! We previously owned a front load washer and dryer (not GE) and will never purchase another due to problems with BOTH appliances. Love it! by stonemeadow, | Thu, Apr 10, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 2 visitors found this helpfulVerified PurchaseI like this dryer and the washer. I bought this new dryer, and the accompanying washer, in October 2013, so I have been using them for six months now. I am completely happy with the (1) washer because it is quiet is conservative with its use of water and (2) dryer because it does not take long to dry clothes. Also they are slim enough to fit inside my 1974-built utility space in the hall. Good value I purchased this to go along with the matching washing machine. Overall I have been very happy with how well this dryer has worked. I replaced a 10 year dryer with this one, and I have seen a difference in how well it has done in getting items dried without the need to rerun it. The sensors in it have done a really nice job estimating how long it needs to run to get whatever I have put in there dried. The capacity is nice in that I can easily get things like large loads of jeans dried. The large capacity also allows it to help in extracting the cat hair from the clothes. Those of us who have cats will understand that problem... It seems well built and I have had good luck with Whirlpool products in the past. So while nothing spectatcular about this machine (it is a dryer after all....) I would recommend this machine, and if you are in the market for a washer it's matching washing machine. by MikeyMan123Westford, MA | Fri, May 16, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag 6 visitors found this helpfulVerified PurchaseLove this dryer. We love this new dryer, it seems to dry the clothes faster than our 10 year old Whirlpool it replaced. The time to dry seems to lie though, always is longer than it says but still quick enough. I also like how the lint filter is very easy to get the lint off of. Sears also had it on sale for a very good price. I would definitely buy it again. The plastic rib is the most difficult to clean underneath it where lent is trapped most often and this is where the sensor is located I guess. At least this is what the instructions suggest to keep this area clean because of the moisture sensor. Other then that I love my Electrolux appliance. I am most happy with the support from your company and their willingness to fix any problems that happen or support for something that has broken. by Gideon, | Thu, May 8, 2014 Was this helpful?YesNo 0 comments | flag Amazing product This dryer has saved me soooo much time and money... I wouldn't recommend this washer or dryer to a friend let alone a enemy, it's a shame appliances can't be tried out at the store before buying. If so I would never had purchased the set. Basically "looks are deceiving" they are beautiful but NO work horse. Where to start, you can not put more than 5 bath towel and 5 hand towels in one load. I am constantly having to do another Spin Only cycle after each load. The timing is not accurate if a cycle is 43 mins plan on it really being 55 mins. The light in washer drum shuts off to soon and there is no way to turn it back on. The dyer when the cycle is done I am always having to turn it back to finish drying a load. I wish I would have kept my Kenmore front loaders they were hands down a work horse. I should have known even my Electrolux vacuum is sad.
