This wine is from France, Burgundy region, Cote De Nuits sub-region and Clos Vougeot appellation. For the first 680 years of this ...vineyard's history, it was tended by the monks of Citeaux, who planted the Clos de Vougeot and the majority of the neighbouring plots at the start of the 12th century. The Clos du Prieure, like the rest, was sold off at the end of the 18th century under the French Revolution.Though Vougeot is best known for the highly reputed Clos de Vougeot, covering almost 126 acres, the Premier Cru and Village appellations in the remaining 41 acres should not be forgotten. Pale golden, full of light, with green hints. A good first nose, quite closed, which opens after aeration to reveal mineral notes,... almost chalky, complimented by floral and menthol fragrances. It's like a sunny garden. attack is clean, mouth voluptuous, yet elegant, with aromas of bitter almond, held together by good acidity which brings its crispness to fore.
