A very pretty start. palate is bright and fresh too, red licorice mixes with more spice and pepper dusted mulberries. tannins are fine and talc-like, laced with minerals and nice length. A deeper look unveils more complex Marsanne notes of green papaya and pistachio. An abundance of stone fruits hold sway over sumptuous attack and mid palate. finish is surprisingly savoury. Story Behind Name Despite being a good match for fish, name has little to do with sea going creatures. A fishplate is colloquial t...erm for plates that collect grape bunches on a harvester. Adelaide Hills vineyard this wine is sourced from follows contours of a steep hill which causes some very tight turns and awkward manoeuvres for drivers. This often results in a broken fishplate, a dilemma that is not easily or quickly resolved for driver. So this wine is a tribute to hard working vineyard workers who are constantly repairing fishplates. Characteristics nose is lifted and expressive with tropical fruits dominating. Guava and passion fruit spring to mind. Along with fruit there are underlying aromatic herb botanicals. On palate tropical fruits are joined by cumquat and candied limes and crisp greenness is reminiscent of crunchy snow peas. This wine is both luscious yet focused with fresh mineral vibrancy that you get from cool climate Adelaide Hills fruit. A Sauv Wine & Spirits rating: 92. read more

On nose of this wine there is a whiff of freshly cracked pepper and violets to start, then d...ives quickly into a swirl of sweet plums, red berries and earthy minerals. palate is fresh and spicy with bright red and purple fruits that sit nicely with earthy tannins. tannins are gritty and textural adding to complexity and intrigue. This wine has great concentration of fruit coupling with bony tannins giving it weight and vibrancy, all in balance. This will be a very long living wine so clear some space in cellar. read more

Little Venice Shiraz has a lifted nose; currants, plums and pepper with cedary spice all wrapped up in fresh potter's clay. There ...are appealing notes of saline fruit, forest floor and truffles that bring complexity. palate starts with plenty of concentration and weight, then there's a pile of red and dark currants and plums to bring freshness and vibrancy. tannins are long and mineral laced, finishing with a twist of crushed ants, meatiness and mushrooms that are becoming hallmarks of this vineyard. While restrained in youth, with bottle age it will open up to reveal more layered and complex secondary characters. With careful cellaring this wine will drink well until at least 2030.
