Recessed

Recessed undercabinet lighting resembles traditional recessed cans; the lights are mounted so they sit flush with the cabinet. They offer an almost invisible profile but require more involved installation.

Rope

Rope undercabinet lights come strung together in a rope that plugs into an outlet. Some rope undercabinet lighting can be trimmed to desired lengths. Clips can adhere rope lighting below cabinets, or the rope can simply be placed on top of cabinets to send a glow toward the ceiling.

Because of that, most of the purchasing decisions to take into consideration focus on how invasive the installation will be, as well as the type of light provided.
