Design by Giovanni Alessi Anghini. Giovanni Jr. is the son of Alessio, grandson of Carlo and great-grandson of Giovanni, founder o...f Alessi. Like a number of his fourth-generation cousins, he makes a point of using both of the family surnames: Alessi Anghini. After a period at Stefano Giovannoni's studio in Milan, Giovanni Jr. is taking his first steps in the designer's profession. A short while ago he presented this bottle opener to Alessi featuring a pressure opening mechanism, an ingenious idea in this his "opus one", that they were happy to develop and put into production. To use, push down on the bottle cap remover. A magnet inside holds onto the metal cap once it has been removed from the bottle neck. read more

Following the typical minimalist approach that features in all Jasper Morrison's work, this design is an attempt to reduce the "cu...tlery-object" to its barest essence, its purest and most customary form and what might tentatively be called its definitive form, and deliberately stripped of all stylistic value and - perhaps precisely because of this - clearly recognisable as Morrison's work. read more

Colombina Collection looks like a beautiful design with a sculptural approach: plates, containers, and cups that are elegant, new ...and pleasing, and all excitingly created in new materials and different colours. But on closer inspection, this design reveals an awareness of the rituals of the table that is very open to the evolution of contemporary living, with its playful aspect and its amenability to rearranging the composition of the pieces on the table, as well as its philosophy of change in general.
