Snowman Truffles
Ingredients
  • 1/3  cup  butter, softened
  • 1/3  cup  packed brown sugar
  • 1  tablespoon  vanilla
  • 1  cup  all-purpose flour
  • 1  cup  miniature semisweet chocolate pieces
  • 4  ounces  white baking chocolate with cocoa butter, chopped
  • 4  ounces  vanilla-flavor candy coating, chopped
  • 2  teaspoons  shortening
  •  Miniature semisweet chocolate pieces, orange gumdrops, and regular and mini chocolate sandwich cookies with white filling
Directions

1. Line a 15x10x1-inch baking pan with waxed paper; set aside. In a medium mixing bowl beat butter, brown sugar, and vanilla with an electric mixer on medium speed until combined. Beat in flour just until combined. Stir in 1 cup chocolate pieces. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Place in the prepared pan. Cover and freeze about 30 minutes or until firm.

2. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan heat and stir chopped chocolate, candy coating, and shortening over low heat until melted and smooth. Remove from heat.

3. Line a tray or baking sheet with waxed paper. Using a fork, dip balls into white chocolate mixture, allowing excess chocolate to drip back into saucepan. Place dipped balls on prepared tray. Decorate balls with chocolate pieces and triangular bits of orange gumdrops to make eyes, mouths, and noses to resemble snowman faces. For hats, use melted white chocolate mixture to attach two mini chocolate sandwich cookies to half of a regular cookie. Attach hats to snowmen with melted chocolate. Let stand or chill about 30 minutes until set. If truffles set up before you can add decorations, dab a small amount of the melted chocolate mixture on the decorations and put in place.

From the Test KitchenTo Store:
