Multipurpose Meat Marinade Mix

Multipurpose Meat Marinade Mix
Ingredients
  • 3  tablespoons  dried basil, crushed
  • 2  tablespoons  dried oregano, crushed
  • 1  tablespoon  dried thyme, crushed
  • 1  tablespoon  kosher salt
  • 1  teaspoon  ground black pepper
  • 1  teaspoon  garlic powder
  • 1  teaspoon  onion powder
Directions

1. In a small bowl stir together basil, oregano, thyme, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Pour mixture into a small jar. Fasten lid; attach directions for marinade to jar (below).

  • Store in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months.
To Make Marinade
  • Stir marinade mix before using. In a screw-top jar, combine 3 tablespoons olive oil, 3 tablespoons red wine vinegar (or white wine vinegar for chicken), 2 teaspoons of the dry mix, and 1 teaspoon Dijon-style mustard. Cover and shake well. Place 1 pound pork chops or skinless, boneless chicken breast halves in a resealable plastic bag set in a shallow dish. Pour marinade over meat; seal bag. Marinate in the refrigerator for 4 to 6 hours, turning bag occasionally. Drain meat; discarding marinade. Grill or broil as desired.
