Chocolate Is Good for You!
Dark chocolate has some of the same benefits as a cup of tea.
It's true -- chocolate is good for you! Chocolate contains large amounts of catechins, the same beneficial compounds found in tea. Chocolate has the same beneficial effect as tea, and it seems to pack a lot of antioxidants per ounce. Just 1 ounce of chocolate has about as much beneficial catechin as 1 cup of brewed black tea.

If you like dark chocolate, the news is even better. The darker the chocolate, the higher it's likely to be in flavonoids. However, as with many of the beneficial compounds being discovered in foods, it is unclear how much chocolate you need to eat to achieve these benefits. So until more research is done, save chocolate for an occasional treat because it's high in calories, fat, and sugar, and low in fiber.
