Bouillon

Definition:

(BOOL yon) A seasoned clear broth usually made from the water in which beef has been cooked.

Bouillon also can be made using either chicken, vegetables, or fish. Often it is used as a base for soups and sauces. Bouillon is essentially the same thing as broth.

Forms

Bouillon is available in liquid and dehydrated forms. The term often refers to commercially prepared dehydrated products called instant bouillon. Instant bouillon is available in jars as granules or cubes.
