For Good Measure

Do you ever end up with too many noodles? Here's how to make just the right amount of pasta.
Keep your guests happy with
plenty of pasta.

  • 8 ounces uncooked small to medium dried pasta shapes (such as farfalle or bow ties, elbow macaroni, or penne) = 4 cups cooked (4 servings)
  • 8 ounces uncooked dried long pasta shapes (such as linguine, fettuccine, or spaghetti) = 4 cups cooked (4 servings)
  • 8 ounces uncooked dried egg noodles = 2-1/2 cups cooked (2 to 3 servings)

How Much to Make:

  • When cooking homemade or refrigerated pasta, plan on 4 ounces for each main-dish serving and 2 ounces for each side-dish serving.
  • When cooking packaged dried pasta, use 2 ounces for each main-dish serving and 1 ounce for each side-dish serving.
