Curried Sweet Potato Chowder is the perfect starter for an Indian-themed menu. Add Tandoori Chicken Kebabs, Mint Yogurt Sauce, and Basmati Rice with Pine Nuts to complete it. Buy chicken cut for stir-fry to make prep faster, and look for Tandoori sauce or seasoning in the ethnic aisle. You only use 3/4 cup peas for the soup, so if you buy a 10-ounce package of frozen peas for preparing it, toss the extra into the rice when it's just cooked -- it'll add color and flavor and will be even more authentic.

Tandoori Chicken Kebabs

Marinate sliced chicken in Tandoori sauce, then thread onto skewers. Grill outside or in a countertop grilling machine.

Mint Yogurt Sauce

Peel and seed a large cucumber. Shred into a bowl; add a 6-ounce container of plain yogurt, chopped fresh mint, salt, pepper, and 1 large garlic clove that has been pressed through a garlic press.

Basmati Rice with Pine Nuts

Prepare Basmati or Texmati rice according to package directions. When cooked, fluff with fork and stir in toasted pine nuts.
