Do-Ahead Timeline
This timeline shows you how far in advance food preparation for the menu can take place. Following these tips allows maximum time with your guests and minimum fuss.
Up to 2 days before dinner
- Prepare Scalloped Corn. Cool, cover and refrigerate.
- Prepare Calico Beans. Cool, cover and refrigerate.
Up to 1 day before dinner
- Prepare Key Lime Tart. Cover and refrigerate.
Up to 6 hours before dinner
- Prepare fruit for salad. Cover and refrigerate.
- Whip cream for Key Lime Tart if using.
3 hours before dinner
- Bring Scalloped Corn to room temperature.
- Bring Calico Beans to room temperature.
1 1/2 hours before dinner
- Grill chicken.
40 minutes before dinner
10 minutes before dinner
- Arrange salad in one large bowl or in individual bowls.
