Pico de Gallo Salsa
Ingredients
  • 2
    medium tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 2
    tablespoons finely chopped onion
  • 2
    tablespoons snipped fresh cilantro
  • 1
    serrano chile pepper, seeded and finely chopped
Directions

In a medium bowl combine tomatoes, onion, cilantro, serrano chile pepper, and a dash sugar. Cover; chill several hours.

Traditional pico de gallo it is not; and, the portions of ingredients should be increased. However, not using salt is fine for someone on a salt restricted diet. Garlic should be optional of course. It should be noted that adding the lemon juice (or lime juice) will help to preserve the salsa for a longer time when storing in the frig. in addition to giving the salsa the traditional flavor. Also. I would use sweet onion anytime its available.
