Homemade Maple Syrup
- In a medium saucepan combine sugar and water. Bring to boiling over medium-high heat. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 5 minutes. Remove saucepan from heat and stir in maple flavoring. Serve warm or cool. (Mixture thickens somewhat upon cooling.) Cover and refrigerate remaining syrup for up to 1 week. Makes 2 cups.
