Balsamic BBQ Sauce
Ingredients

    cup lager beer
  • 1
    cup ketchup
  • 1/2
    cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/3
    cup white balsamic vinegar
  • 6
    cloves garlic, minced
  • 1
    tablespoon honey
  • 1
    teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1
    teaspoon Asian chile sauce (optional)
  • 1
    teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2
    teaspoon ground black pepper
Directions

In a medium saucepan, combine beer, ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, garlic, honey, cumin, chile sauce (if desired), chili powder, and pepper. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, for 45 minutes to 1 hour or until desired consistency, stirring frequently. Let cool. Pour sauce into a pint jar; fasten lid.

If you are making this as a gift, I would think you'd want it to last longer than 3 days in the fridge. Could you can it (seal the lid) to have it last longer? If so, would it need to be refrigerated?
