Baked French Toast with Orange Syrup

Ingredients
 
Nonstick cooking spray

slightly beaten egg
1
slightly beaten egg white
3/4
cup fat-free milk
1
teaspoon vanilla

1/2 inches slices French bread
1
recipe Orange Syrup (see recipe below)

Directions

  1. Lightly coat a large baking sheet with cooking spray; set aside. In a shallow dish combine the whole egg, egg white, milk, and vanilla. Dip bread slices in egg mixture, coating both sides. Place slices on the prepared baking sheet.
  2. Bake in a 450 degree F oven about 6 minutes or until bread is lightly browned. Turn bread over and bake for 5 to 8 minutes more or until golden brown. Serve French toast with warm Orange Syrup. Makes 4 servings.

Orange Syrup

Ingredients

cup orange juice

tablespoon honey

teaspoons cornstarch

teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions

  1. In a small saucepan stir together orange juice, honey, cornstarch, and ground cinnamon. Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened and bubbly. Cook and stir for 2 minutes more.
