Black Bean and Sausage Posole
Ingredients

12 ounce package light ground turkey-and-pork sausage

14 ounce cans reduced-sodium chicken broth

15 ounce can black beans, rinsed and drained

14 1/2 ounce can golden hominy, rinsed and drained

14 1/2 ounce can Mexican-style stewed tomatoes

cup frozen loosely packed diced hash brown potatoes

cup chopped green sweet pepper

cup chopped onion

clove garlic, minced

teaspoon chili powder

teaspoon dried oregano, crushed
Directions
In a large saucepan brown sausage; drain fat. Stir in broth, black beans, hominy, tomatoes, potatoes, sweet pepper, onion, garlic, chili powder, and oregano. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes. Makes 6 servings.

This recipe is one of our family favorites. I have served it many times and always received great raves!! I had lost it and was very happy to find it on your website. The combination of the ingredients did not sound that great but It was one of the top winners many years ago in your magazine and even young kids love this soup. We eat it with cornbread muffins. I double the recipe and it is even better when I reheat it the next day, if there is any leftovers!!
