Vegetable oil
1. In a blender or food processor combine garlic, cilantro, and sugar; blend or process until ingredients form a paste. Add soy sauce, sweet chili sauce, and vegetable oil. Pulse until well combined. Pour the mixture over the ribs in a large glass, plastic, or stainless steel container, turning ribs to coat well. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
2. Preheat oven to 250 degrees F. Preheat grill. Remove ribs from the sauce, shaking off any excess. Reserve remaining sauce. Place the ribs on the grill meaty side down for 8 minutes. Flip and grill another 4 minutes. Transfer ribs to a 9x13x2-inch baking dish and pour reserved sauce over ribs. Cover with foil and bake 3 hours. Remove and serve immediately. Makes 2 to 4 servings.

I followed the recipe to the "T" and the response from all members of my family was this was awful. Great lesson for me. Needless to say I'll stick with Alton Browns recipes as I have yet to find one that is not the best of the best!
1/7/2012 09:19:51 AM Report AbuseAbsolutely fantastic. If you can't find the sweet chili sauce, I found a recipe on the web that makes 1 cup. That just means you have to make the recipe again. Great for entertaining since it's just waiting in the oven. Try serving the roasted rosemary potato salad (on this website) with it.

9/17/2011 12:34:23 PM Report AbuseI double checked the original recipe from the May 2011 mag issue and 1/4 cup vegetable oil is correct. It may sound like a lot but it's just for the marinade. I tried this recipe out on my husband and he absolutely loved it! I'm making it again tonight for guests.
