Canadian Bacon and Sauerkraut Pizza
Ingredients
  • 1
16 ounce frozen whole wheat bread dough, thawed
  • 1
    8 ounce can pizza sauce
  • 1
cup sauerkraut, rinsed, well drained, and snipped
  • 8
ounces Canadian-style bacon, cut into thin slices
  • 1
small onion, thinly sliced and separated into rings
  • 1
cup shredded Monterey Jack or mozzarella cheese (4 ounces)
  • 1/2
    teaspoon caraway seed
  • Fresh oregano sprig (optional)
Directions

1. On a lightly floured surface, roll bread dough into a 14-inch circle. Transfer to a greased 13-inch pizza pan. Build up edges slightly. Prick generously with a fork. Bake in a 375 degree F oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until light brown.

2. Spread pizza sauce over hot crust. Top with sauerkraut, Canadian-style bacon, and onion rings. Sprinkle with Monterey Jack or mozzarella cheese and caraway seed. Bake about 10 minutes more or until cheese melts and sauce is bubbly. If desired, garnish with fresh oregano. Makes 6 servings.
