Maple, Apple, and Date Fruit Crisp
teaspoon apple pie spice
cup snipped pitted whole dates
cup maple syrup
cup whole grain cereal flakes with multigrain clusters and crunchy pecans
1 1/2
tablespoons butter, melted
Vanilla low-fat yogurt (optional)
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. In a large bowl stir together flour and apple pie spice. Add apples and dates; toss gently to coat. Drizzle with maple syrup; toss gently to coat. Transfer to an ungreased 2-quart square baking dish.
  2. In a small bowl toss together cereal and melted butter. Sprinkle over apple mixture. Bake, uncovered, for 35 to 40 minutes or until apples are tender. If necessary to prevent overbrowning, cover top loosely with foil for the last 10 to 15 minutes of baking. Serve warm. If desired, serve with yogurt.
