Honey-Chipotle Barbecue Sauce

  • Makes: 12 servings
  • Serving Size: 2 tablespoons
  • Yields: 1-1/2 cups

Honey-Chipotle Barbecue Sauce



  1. In a medium saucepan heat oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; cook until onion is tender. Stir in tomato sauce, honey, vinegar, lime juice, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and chipotle chile peppers. Remove from heat; stir in tequila.
  2. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, about 20 minutes or until sauce is desired consistency, stirring occasionally.

Because chile peppers contain volatile oils that can burn your skin and eyes, avoid direct contact with them as much as possible. When working with chile peppers, wear plastic or rubber gloves. If your bare hands do touch the peppers, wash your hands and nails well with soap and warm water.
