Sweet Zinfandel Granita
Ingredients
  • 1
    cup water
  • 1/2
    cup sugar
  • 1
750 milliliter bottle white Zinfandel wine (about 3-1/4 cups), chilled
  • Assorted fresh tart red cherries and peeled and sliced green and golden kiwifruit (optional)
Directions

1. Stir together water and sugar in a small mixing bowl until sugar dissolves. Combine sugar mixture and wine in a 2-quart square baking dish.

2. Cover and freeze about 6 hours or until firm, stirring once or twice during freezing. Use a large metal spoon or ice cream scoop to scrape mixture into small serving dishes. Place the dishes in a large bowl; if desired, arrange ice cubes, cherries, and kiwifruit in the bowl before adding dishes. Makes 8 to 10 servings.
