Hot Fudge Sauce in a Jar
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup semisweet chocolate pieces
- 1/4 cup butter
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 1 5 ounce can evaporated milk (2/3 cup)
Directions
1. In a small heavy saucepan, melt chocolate and butter over medium heat. Add the sugar. Gradually stir in evaporated milk; stir to dissolve the sugar. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Boil gently over low heat for 8 minutes, stirring frequently. Remove from heat; cool. Pour sauce into jar. Fasten lid; attach directions for serving sauce to jar (below).
From the Test KitchenPeanut Butter-Fudge Sauce:
- Prepare as directed, except after gently boiling for 8 minutes, stir in 1/4 cup peanut butter. Makes 1 3/4 cups.
- Prepare as directed, except stir in 1/4 cup chocolate hazelnut spread with the chocolate and butter. After removing sauce from heat, stir in 2 tablespoons coffee-flavored liqueur or strong coffee. Makes 2 cups.
