- Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Grease a cookie sheet; set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl combine flour, baking powder, salt, and soda. Using a pastry blender or 2 knives, cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add buttermilk, stirring just until moistened. Drop batter by tablespoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheet.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve warm. Makes 10 to 12 biscuits.
