Saucy Sloppy Joes
Ingredients
  • 1
    medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
  • 1
    medium stalk of celery, chopped (1/2 cup)
  • 1/2
    small green sweet pepper, chopped (1/4 cup)
  • 1
    clove garlic, minced
  • 3
    tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 2
    pounds cooked beef, chopped
  • 2
    cups barbecue sauce
  • 1
    tablespoon vinegar
  • 1
    tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1
    teaspoon salt
  • 1
    teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/2
    teaspoon pepper
  • 12
    hamburger buns
Directions

1. Cook onion, celery, green pepper, and garlic in butter or margarine in a large skillet until tender.

2. Stir in cooked beef, barbecue sauce, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, salt, dry mustard, and pepper; bring to boiling. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Serve on hamburger buns. Makes 12 to 16 servings.

  • Variation Note:To trim some of the fat, omit the butter or margarine and simmer all of the ingredients together for about 30 minutes.

it did not taste the way i'm used to traditional joes tasting. if you prefer a bbq taste over a tomato, then this is for you
