Herb-Pepper Sirloin Steak

Ingredients

  • 1  tablespoon ketchup
  • 1  teaspoon snipped fresh rosemary or 1/4 teaspoon dried rosemary, crushed
  • 1  teaspoon snipped fresh basil or 1/4 teaspoon dried basil, crushed
  • 1/4  teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
  •   Dash garlic powder
  •   Dash ground cardamon (optional)
  • 1  1-pound boneless beef sirloin steak, cut 1 inch thick

Directions

1. Preheat indoor electric grill. In a small bowl stir together ketchup, rosemary, basil, pepper, garlic powder, and, if desired, cardamon. Trim fat from steak. Coat both sides of steak with ketchup mixture.

2. Place steak on the grill rack. If using a covered grill, close lid. Grill until steak is desired doneness. For a covered grill, allow 5 to 7 minutes for medium-rare or 7 to 9 minutes for medium. For an uncovered grill, allow 12 to 15 minutes for medium-rare or 15 to 18 minutes for medium, turning once halfway through grilling. To serve, cut into four equal pieces. Makes 4 servings.
