Ingredients

  • 1-1/2  cups all-purpose flour
  • 2  to 3 teaspoons cracked black pepper
  • 8  ounces blue cheese
  • 1/4  cup butter
  • 1  cup chopped walnuts
  • 2  egg yolks, slightly beaten

Directions

1. In a medium mixing bowl combine flour and pepper. Using a pastry blender, cut in cheese and butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add walnuts and egg yolks. Stir until combined. Form the mixture into a ball; knead until combined.

2. Divide dough in half. Shape each half into a log about 9 inches long. If desired, flatten sides of log, making a square log. Wrap logs in plastic wrap; chill at least 2 hours.

3. Cut each log into 1/4-inch slices. Place slices 1 inch apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake in a 425 degree F oven for 8 to 10 minutes or until bottoms and edges are golden brown. Transfer to a wire rack. Serve warm or at room temperature. Store in a tightly covered container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Makes about 72 appetizers.

To Present This Gift... In a well-ventilated work area, lightly mist the container with spray paints to make flecks of gold and silver on the outside of the container. Let dry. Place gold star stickers randomly on the container. Present with plastic Christmas tree ornaments, if desired. Use parchment paper, waxed paper, or plastic wrap to line box and cover appetizers to protect them from the spray-painted surfaces.

Also try this... Draw stars on the container using metallic gold and silver marking pens.

To present this gift you will need:
Chinese take-out container in desired color
Spray paint in gold and silver
Gold star stickers
Plastic Christmas tree ornaments (optional)
Parchment paper, waxed paper, or plastic wrap
