. I raised four strapping sons who could never get enough of my saucy short ribs. I lived in New York State for half a century, and then moved my dog-eared cook book, along with the rest of my most treasured things, to my current home in Richmond, Va. My best cook book could tell lots of stories about winter suppers, summer picnics, funeral receptions, holidays and family milestones. I have special recipes, like my skilletburger supper, and my strawberry rhubarb pie (in season!), that my family and friends love. It’s now held together with a rubber band, and I guess we can no longer call it “new,” but my 56-year-old Better Homes and Gardens Cook Book is still going strong!
