You know about catnip, but what other plants can your cat enjoy? Wheatgrass is a quick and easy to grow grass that your cats will love. Plus, it'll help keep your cat away from the rest of the plants in your garden. With tons of ways to creatively display wheatgrass, it can look totally chic in your home or outdoors. Start growing wheatgrass today for a healthy, happy cat and a beautiful home!

Buying Wheatgrass

Ready to start growing wheatgrass? You can pick up wheatgrass seed from many different places. Try looking at pet stores, where it's often stocked for cat owners (since cats love to eat grass). The seeds will grow quickly, and you should have grass in 8 to 10 days. Don't want to wait? You can also buy wheatgrass pre-grown if you prefer.

Planting for Pets

If you're planting wheatgrass for your pets, you don't have to use anything too fancy for a container. A reusable plastic storage container will work well. Just poke a couple of holes in the bottom for drainage or add a layer of small rocks. Then, add a layer of potting soil, scatter the seeds on top, and finish with a final layer of potting soil. To get full, lush-looking grass, be sure to plant plenty of seeds. Now you're all set to grow!

Displaying Wheatgrass

If you're looking to display wheatgrass for style (or planting for a very fancy cat) there are several ways to creatively display it. Try a pretty glass container with modern wood accents or planting in a series of geometric containers. Multiple plantings will look purposeful and trendy.

If you're looking for a spring display, try planting in eggshells. Kids will have fun helping with this project and watching as these little plantings quickly grow. Simply clean and dry eggshells, and then add potting material and seeds. For extra festivity, consider painting a cute design on the egg shells.
