How to Clean a Blender
For most of us, cleaning a blender is both dangerous and time-consuming, which is why we've come up with a life hack that will forever change the way you clean your blender.
No need for tiny brushes that never quite fit into the grooves, or trying to figure out how to take apart your blender and put it back together again. All you need is vinegar, water, dish soap, and 5 minutes. What's great about this cleaning hack is that if you make it part of your smoothie routine, you will have the cleanest blender on the block!
Add 2 cups room-temperature water and 1 tablespoon vinegar to the blender, put the cover on, and set the blender to medium speed so it continuously pulses for 1 minute.
Discard the vinegar solution and add 2 cups warm water and a small dollop of light dish-washing soap to the blender. With the cover on, set the blender to medium speed so it continuously pulses for 1 minute. Vinegar is a natural neutralizer that takes away strong odors that can linger and spoil your next recipe. For an added clean, replace the vinegar with vodka, which is the best food-safe antibacterial cleaner. Yes, vodka!
Discard the soapy solution, and rinse with warm water until the water runs clear. Add 2 cups water to the blender, then continuously pulse on medium speed with the lid on for 1 minute. Discard the water.
Using a lint-free or microfiber cloth, dry the blender and leave it upside down to air-dry. While the body of the blender is drying, use the same cloth to wipe down the base of the blender and the cord. Use a soapy cloth to remove stubborn, dried-on stains. Dry once clean.
