Shopping Tips: Refrigerators
Find the features, configuration, and energy efficiency you want in a refrigerator -- before you buy.
Configurations
- Standard top-freezer models require a bit of stooping to access items on lower refrigerator shelves. Maximum capacity is about 25 cubic feet.
- Bottom-freezer models are regaining popularity in part because all areas of the refrigerator are more accessible. Capacity is about the same as standard models.
- Side-by-side models have narrower double doors, important if opening clearance is tight, and larger capacities up to 30 cubic feet.
- How much storage you need in a refrigerator depends on how many people are in your household, how often you go shopping, and, of course, how much space you have in your kitchen. for more information, see the Wide World of Appliances.
