Fritillaria Flowers

They vary from small to tall, and fritillaria offer unusual flowers in early spring. They come in a variety of different colors including pale blue, bright red and a soft pink. Add any kind of color to your garden with a beautiful Fritillaria flower.

Fritillaria

Fritillaria, commonly called fritillary, has been maligned because one of its more than 100 species emits a musky scent and bears the common name stink lily. Don't judge all fritillaria by this standard. (In fact, the so-called stink lily, shown, is a gorgeous plant.)

Lutea Crown Imperial (Fritillaria imperialis)

A small grouping of three or five Lutea is a refreshing eye-catcher, even at a distance.

Fritillaria meleagris

The gracefully dangling bell-shaped flowers are white or purple, with darker spots in a checkered pattern. The green leaves are strappy and the flower stems are 12 to 18 inches tall. In fall, plant bulbs tipped a little sideways in full sun to partial shade in very well-drained, fertile, moist soil.
