Dave: The 48-Hour Challenge
Five of our favorite bloggers created clever weekend projects for outdoor living using $500 in materials from The Home Depot. Dave's blog is The Home Garden, and here is his the story of his project.
Post 1: Meet the Gardener
I am Dave Townsend, creator of the garden blog The Home Garden.
Two and a half years ago, I changed career courses to become a stay-at-home dad after spending seven years teaching music in the public schools. With the purchase of our first home in Spring Hill, Tennessee, I was able to move beyond container gardens and vigorously pursue gardening in the earth.
I am actively turning our landscape into a garden sanctuary and haven for our family of four. Through my blog, I have documented our vegetable garden, plant propagation experiments, gardening adventures with our two girls, all kinds of projects, and my positive and negative experiences in the garden. The blog is an effort to help those who are interested in what I believe is the best hobby around!
I am also active in my local garden club, serve as a garden coordinator for a local food pantry's garden, and am seeking certification as a Tennessee Master Gardener.
I am always starting a new project, whether it is large or small, and this opportunity to participate in the 48-Hour Blog Challenge is sure to be exciting. I hope you will follow along and see how my project comes together into what will be an excellent addition to our garden -- and maybe yours!
