About this Project

Small holes and cracks can be filled with surfacing or drywall joint compound. But patching is easier for larger holes. The patching technique shown here works well for repairs when the lath above is in good condition. If the lath is as much of a problem as the ceiling plaster, you will want to consider redoing the whole ceiling or turning the job over to a pro.

Tile is durable, but it can be damaged. Improper installation, poor adhesive bonds, and falling objects can cause it to crack or chip. Repairs start with removing the grout and tile. Before replacing them, diagnose the problem to see if you need to make structural repairs to prevent subsequent damage.
