Gingerbread Details
Brackets, headers, and spandrels (a kind of floral fretwork) are commonly used to re-create Victorian era "gingerbread" on the exterior of homes. But these architectural elements can also find a home inside.
We used stock and custom ornaments to turn several inexpensive bookcases into stylish storage units. The key to their good looks: We selected elements that match the scale of our bookcases. Smaller elements might get overlooked, and larger ones would tend to dominate.
