Before, the empty sunporch was wasted space. But the space featured good bones, such as the windows, blue ceiling, and checkered floor. A surge of color and affordable furniture transformed this space into a stylish summertime hang out.

Sunny Delight

Summery sherbet colors pep up this space. Aqua blue recalls the color favored for vintage porch ceilings, and heavy doses of orange create bright focal points. To give the room a dramatic focal point, four small patterned rugs layer over a large jute rug to create a graphic pattern.

Table Settings

For easy living, make sure every seat has a table within reach. Two inexpensive side tables form an easy-to-reconfigure coffee table.

Cozy Seating

An assortment of table linens is the unexpected source for pillows and cushion fabrics. The settee seat cushions were made from a tablecloth. Napkins and dishtowels were transformed into pillows.

Wicker Wonderland

Wicker furniture is a summer staple. Find affordable pieces at a flea market or garage sale. Spray paint the pieces bright white for a fresh look.

DIY Window Treatment

White vinyl roller shades were painted to resemble awnings. To re-create this look, tape off stripes on the plain window shade. Next, press tape edges to seal. Apply latex paint with a foam roller, remove tape immediately, and let dry.
