This trellis, featured in the April 2010 issue of Better Homes and Gardens magazine, was designed by the homeowners to provide screening and privacy beyond what a typical privacy fence provides. Mounted on posts set just inside the fence line, the trellis is decorative as well as functional. A structure such as this can be adapted to a variety of sites by varying the height and width of the panels -- the basic design doesn't change beyond the dimensions. Be sure to check building codes, as well as homeowner association rules, if applicable, to be sure the structure is consistent with local rules.
